How many on this forum remember this. When you were a youngin and your old man told you to "be seen and not heard." I can remember going a many of places and the old man telling me this. I remember one time in particular when I didn't listen to him. Got the ### beating of my life. I got the point then. Today's society is now run by the tree hugging put your child in timeout and don't smack their ### crowd. Nowadays you correct your child in public people are offended. Didn't have the problems back then that are going on today.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 5, 2009

KEEP IN MIND,MOST OF THE DRIVERS YOU SEE AT THE TRUCKSTOPS ARE O.T.R SUPERFLEET,WHICH MEANS THEY HAVE TO BE OUT FOR A MINIMUM OF 3 WEEKS AT A TIME,ALTERNATING SHIFTS MORNING NOON AND NITE DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCE OF THEIR LOAD AND LOG BOOK,SO THATS 3 WEEKS OF ARBYS,SHOWER LINES,NOT ENOUGH TIME,EMERGENCY ALL IN A SPACE THAT MEASURES ABOUT 7X5 CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY THAT YOUR JUST RUNNING THROUGH TO GET YOUR AM COFFEE,IMAGINE HAVING TO USE THE EMPTY CUP AS A URINAL?

you are still missing the point, and making excuses. face it, some drivers are lazy, and use the excuse of bieng a "Trucker" as an excuse not to keep clean.
I have had to run hard a lot, used to load in tucson on tuesday, drop in alexandria, LA wednesday, and final in charleston, SC, Thursday AM, Load Thurs. or fri. morning, and head back. The baby wipes (all over, not just the special spots) and deoderant got used a lot!!
You are correct on the alternating shifts, shower lines, etc. But like anything else in life, you have to make time.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 9, 2009
henry Thanks this. -
That's no excuse for being a lazy pig. I had no issues getting showers, getting to a bathroom, or keeping myself looking presentable when I was OTR with a 'Superfleet' years ago. Most of the drivers I met on the road had no issues with those necessities either.
We may just be coming off the road after many hours behind the wheel or having just left a loading dock where we had to load our own trailer, which may be why we are not freshly pressed and folded like Mr. & Mrs. 9-5 on their way to the office or sales appointment. Most drivers out there take care of their appearance, it just may not match the schedule of Mr. 4 wheeler dropping in for a cup of coffee.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 9, 2009

trying to make a point, albeit a little harsh.alot of people who dont drive dont really know whats involved.they might have some romantic delusion of driving around the country with a chimp riding shotgun or something.remember that show bj and the bear? well in my own defense that stinky little monkey wouldnt have lasted 5 minutes in my truck,i would have tossed some bananas in a 4 wheeler, and ran like hell.

and your point is? ....what?that some drivers just dont give a #### about there personal hygen. iv known plenty of drivers that have been out weeks at a time and have come back not smelling or looking like they jumped out of a dumpster, i know that im on student status here but dont let that fool you iv been over the road with my pops for a few years i worked on his trucks and worked with his drivers to keep things moving smoothly. I hate to be an A-hole but i tell it like it is your still a rookie driver you only have 2 years under your belt ,get mad or upset if you want, but thats how i see it, and im sure other people on this site see it that way as well. and how are is that you are bringing up chimp b.s. that has nothing to do with what we are talking about here.
