I'm assuming you didn't leave a tip for the person that supposedly cleaned that shower .

If i can smell myself, i dont care how many hours i've been driving , i will clean up, having access to a shower or not, i carry a small pail with me and have at least 4 gallons of water in truck at all times, wash rag and soap and you're all set, its all personal preferance.

Saw a guy park his 4wheeler in a Pilot lot the other night with the big rigs to take a nap. Trouble is, he parked with the big boys and pulled nose-in into the shadows between a Swiftie and a West Side. 20 minutes later, he got squashed by a pumpkin backing up! 'Ol Schneider really nailed him too. They both got what was coming to 'em!

(Ps. Not all Swifties are bad. We're just all lumped in with the stupid among us...)

Unfortunately, you are right. The vast majority of us truck drivers take pride both in our profession and our personal lives/appearance. I try to shower daily, however, there are times when it has to be every other day. Yes, you may see me in the men's room splashing water on my face and washing my hands, but, as others have said: it may well be 7:30 in the morning with your day just starting, my day may well be at it's end.

Truck drivers only reflect the current society. When I was a young kid, there's no way I'd be allowed to go around with my pants hanging off my rear end and drawers showing. Society now accepts this sloppy appearance. My father shaved daily, whether he had to work or not. I do the same. My how times have changed.

Thanks for the comment dave, i feel the same way, your shippers & receivers thank you as well for presenting yourself as a professional. Personal hygiene is a must in our profession.

I love the internet. At the same time I hate it because it gives people the idea they can just completely forget common decency and say some of the most thoughtless, snobby things they can think of.

The truth, Joe 4wheeler, is that human beings aren't always minty fresh. Sometimes we have bad breath, sometimes we're sweaty, sometimes our clothes are dirty. This doesn't just happen to truck drivers. However, people with manners don't talk about it because its rude.

Secondly, I love the fact that you're complaining that your 'convenient' coffee stop is being ruined by the flora and fauna of the t/s. The world doesn't revolve around you. Go to Starbucks! They're tailor made for individuals who want a clean atmosphere with yuppie clientele. (Me, I would prefer the truck stop and avoid Star******* like the plague because at least the waitress at a TA isn't going to lie and argue with me about the coffee being fair trade when I know good and well it isn't AND I don't have to wait 15 minutes while someone orders a latte with everything but the kitchen sink- but I digress)

People are so snooty about anything that isn't middle class and sparkly clean anymore. They forget there's a whole world of working people that are doing their best to live their lives, feed their families, and their lives don't look like the set from Friends. And that's okay. Who cares if someone is smelly and scruffy. Mind your own beeswax and just order your coffee.

And speaking of changing dress codes: Can someone please tell me when it became okay for men to wear their hats indoors?
