There agent told me NY has what they call NY bar code. Some carriers do not participate in this. OOIDA is one of them. Not a big deal for some but without this it does not allow you to pick up and drop off in NY state, (intrastate work). I like having the option to be able to do this.

 

Picking up and delivering in a state is called intrastate and that also has to do with operating authority .

I did not ask either of you to explain further, did not want to show my ignorance or bother you but I called OOIDA and got the scoop.
I did not know what intrastate meant exactly.

So for the Beginner as I am, here it is in simple language:

Intrastate: It is to pick & deliver the same load within that same state....
You are covered with OOIDA if you pick up a load in NY or MA states and deliver in another states.
Same thing in vice-versa you can deliver a load within those states as long as the load comes from a different state.

No problem, ask away!. This sight is great for info and learning the ins and outs. We all knew next to nothing at one point and havent forgotten that. It is frustrating but nothing to be embarassed about.

 

We all had our first day. Some a lot longer ago than others. We learn something every day. Remembering it can be the challenge. It is best to ask a question than not ask. If you have one that means you want to learn. NOT asking is telling yourself you don't want to learn. Never be afraid to ask a question.
