Hi all! I just want to say "thank you" for all of your information on this site! My husband finally got "the call" last month after applying 7 months ago. He passed his pre trip/driving test and physical/drug test. He is just waiting on background check now. Reading these posts have really helped! He has been an owner operator for over 28 years, so he is in for some big changes! We are all so excited! Thank you all again!!

The worst thing he may have to get used to is slip seating-swapping trucks during his work week.

At this moment my husband is doing his physical and drug test. He first applied August 11. Missed 2 items on the PTI and passed the road test with no problem. He has to meet with another person at the DC when he's done at the doctor but they've already told him he'd be on a 3/2 program.

Once his employment verifications and background checks come back he will be a Walmart driver! I am so excited for him!

I posted this on the "here i come" board but didn't get any responses. Since I'm a wife, figured I'd try here.
I'm new here. My husband has applied and now we are playing the waiting game. He rarely gets online, so you get me :) He applied at five different DCs but after some research on where we would rather live (we want to move anyway and Walmart rarely hires near us), we are thinking LaGrange or Cullman would be the bestareas. Can anyone compare the DCs? Also, we do not want to live more than an hour, possibly an hour and half away from the terminal, so what are some good places to live near either? (You can inbox me if you do not want to make a public comment concerningthe DCs). Thanks.

Welcome Forever !! The Walmart here I come thread is actually the best one for specific DC questions. My husband drives out of Buckeye AZ, so I am not familiar with the DC's over there. I will quote your post and ask those guys to help. Sometimes it takes a bit for a driver from a specific DC to be on the thread. Most who are regular posters work out of TX or the NE. It will get answered.

I will go post over there now. :)

Im not a walmart driver. I will put in a small thought that Pre-trips under examination by a trainer or a company tester is literally walking around the truck one time while physically doing a pre-trip. Omissions and or excessive checking of small stuff not expected of newbies is done generally to maintain everyone on the same track.

All workplaces have some kind of plus and negative. Trucking is a little more rougher than most, if you do something against a trucking company, they will not hesitate to make sure to use scorched earth against the driver in many ways to assure that driver is not hireable in the industry.

I'm sure you mean well but Walmart is not like that. Your pre trip will make or break you. If you pass the first interview then you are scheduled for the pre trip and road test. If you do not pass the pre trip, there is no road test. Everything is about safety here and only very experienced drivers need apply.

Also, Walmart is not vindictive. They can't be. Everyone would love to sue them, so everything they do is on the up and up. You have to work pretty hard to get fired (dishonesty is a biggie), but lets say you got fired for hitting a yellow pole and lying about it.................... they are NOT going to go on your DAC report and put down that you had an accident that may have resulted in a fatality. Never happen. They only work within the letter of the law.
