Forgive my "newbieness" on this but on the cb this morning heard some guys talking about "15 here and 15 there" on paper logs......
1. If you only log 15 at a unload/hook/drop/load....and it really takes 2 hours.....and you go sleeper....doesn't that still tick off time from your 14?
2. If so, what are you really saving besides 2 hours on duty you won't need anyway?
3. I can see how trimiming 15 minutes back from starting your break could gain you 15 minutes...but the off chance you roll into a scale and they say oh you went on your 30 ten minutes ago you'd be screwing yourself.
I'm guess I'm confused as to this whole fudging thing. I run elogs and fudging to me seems like a waste if your only getting 15 minutes or so?
And for the life of me I can't see how old boys used to run 2 log books that seems impossible.
Questions...paper logs.....

When you run 2 log books, you run one for that day and show it to law enforcement if asked, but that's not the one you send in at the end of the day to your company, right ? When you're done and parked for the night, you make up a new one that you send in.
Showing 15 min for load/unload saves your available hrs that you have. However, be aware that any intelligent law enforcement knows that you can't do a drop/hook that quick. So I advise you mix it up on your logs. Show some 15 min times but also show 30 or even an hour mixed in.rachi Thanks this. -
I ran two logs most of my career but wouldn't do it today though because not worth the risk of heavy fines and liability if something goes wrong.
Keep one log that looks legal to show law enforcement officers and one to use when not at the scales or pulled over by a trooper.
Shaving time off stops by just showing 15 minutes instead of 2 hours adds up to lots of hours at the end of the day or week. Stuck in traffic for hours; don't worry, just average your driving time @ 55 mph at the end of the day and that wipes out all that sitting in traffic.
Pull in to truck stop for that 10 hour break and adjust the logs and "wow" only have to sit there for 3 hours vs. 10 hours.
Dozens of ways to make it work. Even carry blank "bills of lading" and keep one filled out to match the false logs concerning pickup and delivery times then throw the fake one away after making a delivery.
Those days are over and that's a good thing!Panhandle flash, scythe08, Bean Jr. and 3 others Thank this. -

Being a newbie. And only trained on computer. And will probably never run paper. He'll never understand. His opening statement blows out of proportion. Its not that bad and not that hard to do. And having a laptop. Makes the job much easier then the old days of constandtly running out of crayons. Quite frankly, i dont see how you all survive with a babysitter on your dash. In the end. We're all going to be cluttering the highways because we ran out of hours for whatever circumstances that just can't be trip planned for. It's already happening.

Snap under the trailer hook up the air lines, release the trailer brakes and do your inspection. Dropping the trailer is even faster.LoneCowboy Thanks this. -

What they do is move the start time from say 8 am to 10 am, that is what it gains them on the 14 and 70. Let's say they drop a trailer and hook to another and back into the dock and it takes 2.25 hours to load. Well they log 15 minutes for a drop and hook and then move their start time back 2 hours to gain that time back on the clock.
Just like it when showing up to drop a piece of equipment with the RGN. Show 15 minutes to drop the load (goes really fast when there are 4 guys waiting on that excavator and they remove the chains for you). Then you have time for your 30 in there too.
But then that would be illegal.Last edited: Mar 2, 2016
