Hello- My name is Ashley and I am doing some research for my college class on the Heavy Duty Trucking industry and insurance agencies pertaining to crash/collision coverage. If you could help me out by answering these questions. Even if you only have the time or knowledge to answer just one that would be extremely helpful to me.
Thank You Very Much
Ashley
1. When it comes to getting insurance what is it most as a trucker that you care about in the policy or agency?
2. What is a typical crash/collision coverage? It it automatically provided or is it an add on?
3. When comparing insurance agencies -- what do you use for comparing them?
4. When you are in a crash/collision what is the process that happens between you and insurance agency and getting your vehicle repaired?
5. Do you have a choice of where to take your truck for the repairs or does the insurance agency give you a list of shops they work with? Or do they give you an estimate on the damage and you are able to select where to get the work done?
6. Are there any relationships between insurance agencies and OEM's that you know of?
7. When you are a Owner-Operator as compared to a fleet how does that affect your insurance and your decision?
8. Are there any seasonal aspects that affect the insurance policy? Such as terrain, heatlh, team vs. single, etc.
9. What are the typical costs of insurance and the amount coverage that would be the best selection to have?
Again thank you for all of your help in advance -- if you could answer at least one or two if not all, anything will be helpful to me.
