Okay, like about another 10% or so of the country, I'm looking for a new career... And, being a younger, single, unattached guy, figured the road would be a good place to look... There are just a couple of things in my background that are making me a little wishy washy on going and actually talking to a recruiter or company...

    1. DUI 2001

    2. DUI and Felony DUI accident 2004 (july 12th)

    3. Felony from aformentioned DUI (agg veh assault)

Do any of these proclude me from drivin a truck? Am I wasting my time?

Advice? Please? I'm strugglin and have no idea what to do...!!!:biggrin_2551:

McDonald's is usually hiring somebody to flip burgers!:biggrin_25523:

OK, now that I've pissed you off, I'll stop being a smart aleck.:biggrin_25513:

Seriously, I doubt that any company will hire you, at this time. There is too much "fresh meat" on the market without the DUI history. I really do think you would be wasting your time right now.

Oh yeah, another serious tip here. If you talk to some of these folks who are recruiting for the driving schools, they will probably lie to you, and tell you it won't be a problem. Then after you have gone through the school, and paid the big bucks, you still won't be able to get a driving job. These schools will tell you anything, just to get you to sign a contract.

Most folks have had some type of problem in their lives. Unfortunately having DUI's is not conducive to getting hired by a trucking company.

    Good luck to you.

D.U.I will D/Q you before the felony. There is a lot of companies that will hire you with the felony. As for the D.U.I insurance companies won't allow anyone to hire you with one thats not at least five years old.

If you want to drive commercially, with that background....better consider a taxi in Bagdad......sorry but times are rough and the companies have to many non-violent, sober, and cleaner DMV choices chomping at their recruiters butts!

Theres a small outfit in Miami that would hire ya. They haul from the Pilot in Ocala, down to Miami. Different truck and trailer everytime. Night driving required. I'm pretty sure they furnish the jimmie and bolt cutters..............

There is no way you have even a slim chance of being hired with you record. It's not going to matter how hard you work at it. The company is not going to trust you and there insurance company is not going to allow you anywhere behind the wheel of a rig. I'm sorry to be bursting any bubbles but in this economy with so many good drivers out of work you just aren't even going to get Any consideration. Best of luck to ya:biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513:
