Hello all, I'm from markham, ON, Canada.

Looking to get into trucking, no license yet, but have done a lot of research on youtube and listening to podcast. Seems like the most lucrative way to make money in trucking is to become an owner operator having your own authority, working with load boards and brokers at start. I'm mostly interested in regional work, like going farthest to chicago, moncton. Is it possible to become an owner operator without company driving experience? If not, how much company driving experience at a minimum. Maybe work with a owner operator after school? A trainer with o/o experience? work with uber freight or amazon relay without experience to start? Where to find cheapest insurance? Loadlink and 123loadboard the most popular? I can afford to buy a decent used truck around 150k. Thanks for suggestions

If you're going to get your Az license the best thing is to obtain experience before trying to become an O/o. Plus, do your research on the actual Trucking market currently to understand that there is an overwhelming abundance of Trucks in the overall North American market. Supply & Demand is the main core of any business and right now there is to much 'Supply ' so most O/o with their Authority are fighting for super low rates. O/o's with their own customer base are able to survive whiles many are hanging on. Obtain, a couple years driving experience 1st then in 2025 the market maybe reset for the better by then.

If you’re only watching American truckers on youtube talking about buying a truck and running your own deal there’s your first problem. It’s a totally different market states side and they have more options to make a dollar over there . Not saying you cant make it work here but over here in canada dry van and reefer is over saturated with new Canadians chopping rates down to nothing running junk equipment. If you want to make money do something specialize trucking

Do you have 150 in cash, or is that your maximum credit available including cash on hand?

I am looking to exit the industry. Just tired of it, and want to do other things.

You want to be an owner operator with zero experience and don't have a cdl yet. Think about how that sounds?
Get you cdl first, then become a company driver and get some experience, at this point you don't even know if you will like being a truck driver.
