Ask him if he's ever driven for the company he recruits for. Better yet, as him if He's ever even driven a big truck. (we know the answer to that one)
Ask him for the cell phone numbers of the last 25 recruitees he signed on. Call them up and get the real scoop.
Admitadly, I have not had to deal with recruiters. I only been with one company in the last 18 years....but still I say these are valid questions you could ask. Good luck. -

Do you mind if I hook this lie detector up to you? I just wanna see if you believe all that lard you just handed me... -
Actually I think the most important questions you can ask and ask for documentation on is how much will I make annually as a new driver and how often and for how long will I be at home.
Some guys I know at transport america and some from my current company look at the weekly check and whine. and really you can't tell squat from this anymore than a carpenter could. You aren't making a steady even income, winter/summer. Things should be picking up a bit now and through the summer but you can't budget and spend like it will last all year. and if you start trucking in the dead of winter you can't get depressed thinking this is all I get? It bounces seasonally and lately with the economics of the country.
promised home on weekends and finding out that means saturday morning to sunday night puts alot of newbies back on their heels. Few get a real week end. in on friday night back to work on monday.
fewer still realize how this is tied into total compensation. home weekends for a restart should net you 35k annually +- staying out 2 weeks at a time won't double that but it will add 10-20% TO IT assuming you run in the summer and save vacation time for winter.
Be sure you listen to what is BEING said and not hearing what you want to hear... and of course ask lots of questions for clarification. -
Excellent thread on this HERE:

And since you're asking a recruiter, the most important one... "OK, are you willing to put that in writing??"Last edited: May 31, 2008

Ask him if hes authorized to negotiate for the company. Then tell him you dont handle freight, dont run team, dont go to New York City including Long Island, Dont go to Southern California, or anywhere else where you dont speak the language. You must have no less than 500 horsepower and no less than 78 miles per hour, and if he cant promise you that, walk!
