Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread. We managed to make it out of "Sherman's Pass" as one called it, in one piece. But let me tell you there was some clencher points that's for sure. We were heading west towards Laramie. WYDOT ended up shutting down I80 right after Laramie so we had no choice but to shut down and wait it out safely at a truck stop. We managed to have our appt rescheduled for the next day and all went well with any delay. Hubby has delt with grades before so that wasn't the issue, it's those 60mph winds. Man they are no joke. Mother nature sure let's you know who's in charge at that point.
coastietruckin' and Brickwall Thank this. -
Some white knuckle spots out that way for sure. Just slow down and leave lots of room. Or take 30

I'm an east coast boy myself but the few times I've went from Cheyenne to Rock Springs on I-80 I got lucky working out there those couple weeks. Moving frac pumps around the oilfield between 98-100k. Just took it real easy going down Sherman in high winds, it was when you got off the big road my stomach started churning. I was only 22 at the time
Going US-191 and UT 44 by Flaming gorge national park gets pretty hairy at 100k when its pouring rain and then snowing like a blizzard up on top. Out east we have some short steep hills on the 2 lanes but holy carp going wy530 to 44 or 43 I think to US-191 to Vernal UT has some steep ones and lots of switchbacks
With a 425/1650 ISX with 4.88 rears, it pulled like a beast. I was very impressed by the small 11.9L ISX-12.
Flatlanders remember if its raining in vernal Utah by its gonna be snowing up top on US-191 and UT 44 or 43 Can't remember which off top of my head.
