Hi guys, im getting a 3000w pure sine wave inverter in the truck finally. What size fuse is recommended? Ive heard 10% of the max watts. So 300amps should be ok.
the other question i have is the the inverter says 6000w peak surge. Does that mean it will blow a fuse if it has to surge for somethhing? Would that mean i would need a 600amps? Sorry if its a dumb question i havent installed an inverter before. Thanks. Be safe.

'Peak surge' is when you start an electric motor that requires more power to start than run. For the longevity of your inverter, you should probably never come close to the peak. Try to keep all of your appliances to around 2500w total to allow room for startup if you run more than one at a time. Your refrigerator and/or toaster oven are two appliances that require more power to start than run.

Inductive loads don't have a startup current as does motors and microwaves.
