Hey this one will be pretty short and simple.
Does Landstar train in load securement? I have tanker/hazmat endorsement but no flatbed experiance.
Flatbed, step, oversize and government contracting (which I plan to get once hired) is where the money is for LS from what I understand. However, I don't have any flatbed experiance and don't wanna go company to learn (unless it's the ONLY way), I do not want to fight the good fight trying to squeeze nickels out of pennies hauling dry van until I make some connections
I've had one person with some knowledge tell me that they don't and another tell me they do.
Just wanna get my ducks in a row as I'm still in the planning phases. Thanks guys

Sorry guys I just found the answer on their website. They offer a 2 day training course with food and lodging!!
-
Yes, Landstar is all about the food.
blairandgretchen, Dave_in_AZ, T-BoneX and 1 other person Thank this. -
?
Have you taken the class btw? I'm hoping it's enough to give me a feeling of comfort knowing that I did everything properly with securing the load. Safety is HUGE and one mistake with flatbed securement can end someone's life. -
Go to the LS forum, they have some old hands there, that are a plethora of information.
T-BoneX Thanks this. -
You gonna learn to secure in 2 days?
That don't sound safe. -
Like most of trucking, flatbed securement is 90% common sense.
Straps are straight forward and you can learn how to do it in a day.
Chains on equipment is also straightforward.
Chains and steel is not straightforward. I've hauled multi-stop steel loads secured with straps and chains back when I was super green and looking back, I'm glad nothing bad happened. -
BlackThought and T-BoneX Thank this.

@blairandgretchen went that route, but anyone will tell you you'll need a mentor or three or twelve that you can call and ask questions.
blairandgretchen, whoopNride and T-BoneX Thank this.
