    Completely agree!
When you go in to get a copy (which you are legally entitled to have---can't believe you didn't get a copy the day you signed it)...don't make anyone feel like you plan to jump ship.
Smile, be nice, and just say something like "I'm not sure if I didn't get a copy, or lost mine...but I just realized I didn't have a copy for my own records".
I guarantee they are going to come up with some excuse not to get you one; or at the very least drag their feet. Companies like that want their employees to know as little as possible (probably why they didn't give you a copy the day you signed it).

And if they know your intention is to jump ship at the contracts completion...they will make life hell for you in an attempt to get you to screw up or get aggravated enough to break the contract. February is more than 5 months away...so they have plenty of time to starve you of miles and home time---a quick way to get someone to quit. Be darn careful on this one...and congrats on making it THIS far with these guys.

How do you know CRE didn't give him a copy at the time he signed it?

CRE gave me and everyone else in my class a copy of the contract we all signed. We didn't have to ask for a copy, either--they gave us our copies as a matter of course.

Once your school tuition is paid for, your contract is fulfilled / completed. You continue on as a company driver, or do a lease, or venture out into the wide world of trucking.
Once your contract is fulfilled, get a copy ( Paid in Full ) & your school certificates.
If it were me, you've done 9 months at that point, the door in trucking world swing widely open once you have a year in, so I'd do 3 more months for a year. Once you have a year, you can do a whole bunch of things.

Wait a minute, you won't complete the contract until February? A lot can happen (winter driving through the Rockies) between now and then.

I'd be more concerned about brushing up on your chaining skills ;-)

England recruited me 7 years ago right out of truck driving school.

I already had my CDL and the recruiter told me I'd need to go through their school at a cost of around $2,200 if I remember correctly.

I told her I already had my CDL and just finished graduating from an accredited truck driving school.

She insisted I would have to pay them to go through their school and that I was guaranteed a job afterwards.

I just laughed and told her not to hold her breath waiting for me to call her back with my decision.

I wonder how many people went with it... you know. Just showed up to get fleeced. Terrible that they treat people like this and sad that not much has changed.

Although I will say that what goes around comes around. I'm an owner operator now and am under a contract load for England Logistics.

First time dealing with them as an O/O...

I needed to get where they could get me, agreed on the rate and there you go.

Maybe the joke's on me after all :)
