Well you certainly won't hear anything about this on Landline. LandLine is OOIDA and OOIDA is against ELD. They wouldn't want to draw any attention to this in hopes that the ELD Mandate as written will get thrown out for being screwed up from the very beginning.

The differences described in this thread, the different ways different companies now "configure" the software that is executed by Qualcomm, or PeopleNet, or any other system is one of the reasons it is taking so long for the FMCSA to come out with the ELD standards. The FMCSA has already indicated that companies currently using ELD systems, voluntarily at this time, will have to change those systems to conform to the new as yet released standards. Some of them may have to replace their systems completely.
And when those standards are released, there are going to be many companies with ELDs very unhappy with a new standard set by the FMCSA with absolutely no wiggle room for individual operations, short of applying for a waiver.
You can bet there will be ONE standard set of rules for all trucking companies to be executed by the ELD's. , as determined by the FMCSA. The only way around that will be will officially granted waivers. Between court challenges and political ones, it is going to delay the entire process even further.
