The bottom line is if he hasn't been clean long enough to pass a hair test he hasn't been clean long enough. Period.

That's not from a hypocrite but from someone that's been there done that.

If he doesn't have a year solid clean I don't trust him to stay that way. You shouldn't either.

People relapse. Most of them. I did 3 times before I walked away from it all forever. Until he's clean a year he isn't clean. He's just trying to stay that way.

hair tests don't go back a year. you have no understanding of the process or the protocols. those of us who used to live that lifestyle are VERY acquainted with the testing and how it works for each type of test.

standard testing protocol takes only take a sample 1.5" long with the follicle attached. that's roughly 90 days growth. no more than that.

you said yourself you were gonna take the heat for the question. you should have expected the answers you got. if he has to even wonder about the result, he isn't clean long enough to say he is.

that said, I'm living proof you can recover from that lifestyle and be productive and successful.....and I did far worse and more than weed for a long time but am in a financially independent position now. it's very possible to do but it takes discipline, willpower and sacrifice to beat it once and for good. I wish your 'friend' the best and success, but until he gets a year in be skeptical.

 

Can you refuse a hair test?

 

If you refuse a pee test, its same as being positive.

 

Hi Truckin2Eat, I know, we've been over this and over this, and generally, there is a 0 tolerance for drugs here, and rightly so, HOWEVER, this is an informational site and I'll try.
Unless they drive for 1 of the biggies, Schneider, Hunt, etc. they probably won't have to do a hair test. I think the media hyped up the hair test thing, for shock value (and it worked), but truth is, only a handful of companies do hair testing( from what I hear, but it could gain steam), as it's very expensive, and my experience is, these intermodal companies are running on a shoestring anyway, so tell them not to sweat it. The other thing, I don't think "Hub" has their own trucks (been a while since I pulled a Hub box), outside carriers ( take your pick) haul them, at least when I did it. If your friend can P in cup, that would be good enough for me, ( and most other companies) and tell the hair testing people to cram it with walnuts. Good luck. BTW, I saw a MSNBC documentary on weed, and a company is putting the final touches on a gizmo that can tell how long it's been since you smoked, as opponents of weed drug testing say it's unfair to hang someone that smoked 2 weeks ago. I'm sure the trucking industry will have nothing to do with it, but it could change a lot of testing procedures in the future.
