I have a question about paperless logs and why werner is the only company that uses it? I read their pamplet at Driver school between trying to straight back the truck today(got the uphill good, down hill back not so much lol) and it said all the trucking companies had the offer to switch to paperless logs and werner was the only one that did.I was wondering why that was, does :mwink:anyone know?

Some other companies are starting to switch over to them now. Schneider uses them. I have heard mention of some other companies switching to them lately too, just don't remember who else.

I wouldn't work for a company that uses paperless, I won't work for a company that thinks they can tell me when to sleep and when to drive.

The story was that Werner had to go to paperless logs and tracking to keep their authority, they had a very bad reputation of HOS violations.

The story has been added to many times, that was supposed to be how it started. At least from what I have been told by people other than Werner employees.

At one time Werner and a zillion other carriers had HOS issues, not just Werner LOL. Werner did decide to do the paperless thing, actually developed most of it and here we are... It doesnt tell you when to sleep or eat as some people think it does, just keeps you as legal as possible. Some people really like it, some dont. If you decide to go with them still keep up on remembering how to do a paper log in case you leave the company and go with one that does paper. Just a suggestion.

Paperless works good for teams ... not as good for solo. I was previously leased to a company up here as a team that ran paperless and there were no real issues. I am now running solo leased to a company at the complete opposite end of the spectrum ... no in-truck technology at all.

    luvtheroad Thanks this.

Think it takes some getting used to from what drivers have told me.

How do you like the opposite end of the spectrum after all the technology you had at Werner?

I drag a reefer around so I hang out at produce coolers a lot. :biggrin_2552: The lack of technology allows for the ... uh ... "flexibility" required as a solo in this end of the industry. :biggrin_255: Like I said, that wasn't an issue as a team because it doesn't really matter that one of the drivers is [almost] always on the clock ... you can always keep the wheels rolling.

Oh yeah, you may have noticed I tend to chafe a bit at too much authority ... so I like this arrangement better. :biggrin_25523:

    P.S. It wasn't Werner.

Yeah I was wondering cause we are doing our logs now in trianing and will be hitting the actual logging class next week. And taking a ruler to paper seems like a pain in the ### to me lol, I guess Im not use to it yet, I have homework on logs tonight lmao!
I had asked my instuctor and he really couldn't give me an answer either.
He said everyone had the option to have it but none did but werner.
