I start with Yellow Freight next week as a casual dock worker. I had my fork truck test today and watched a few vids.
As far as Sygma goes, I went out on a route ride along the south shore of Mass. It Physical work, but after years of doing dock work I'm used to it. The hardest part was going down the ramp with the 2 wheeler.
I have to say though Im really impressed with how well Sygma pays their help. As a drivers helper I make 70% of what the drivers earns, which can be around $800-$1000 plus a week. The driver I went out with has been with the company for 12 years, and he made $89k last year!! Which if I was his driver helper I would of made 70% of that!!
So Sygma has offered me the drivers helper job contigent upon passing the backround check, MVR and drug screening, all of which I should have no problem. I could be working for them withing the next couple weeks.
Also because I already have my CDL, they will put me behind the wheel and start training me to be a driver from the start. Most driver helpers dont have CDL's and are required to get it in within 6 months. I feel this is just a incredible oppurtunity to work for a good company and make some serious cash!!
I let ya all know how it all works out with Sygma, and how I like working for Yellow.
