86 just plain sucks, and there's likely to be DOT working it, I'd go 80.

Thanks for all the replies. After reviewing the options, it looks like 86 is going to be the way I'll go!

i live a few miles away from kirkwood, and 17/86 aint so bad. going east i hate it, but west of binghamton through ny is not bad at all. wouldnt even consider going down to 80. its a few more miles, and 80 is MUCH hillier. 86 is pretty straight and flat west of binghamton. not the best road, but not one id go out of my way to avoid. safe travels!

Windsmith O know you are running for an o/o and pretty much handlin the deal yourself--just wonderin if you have considered road use taxes--while I haven't had to do it for 3 years now--(after all the years of ownership)NY Im guessin is still pretty #### pricey--dependin of course on mile you declare--so in that vein--I always drop back down into Pa to minimize my NY miles
    just a thought

Yup, last time I went i86 there were three DOT stops between Binghamton and PA. I run it if I have too, but I'm not a glutton for punishment.

Well, did the 17-86 route, and had no troubles. Lots of curves, but less hills than 80 for sure. Only saw 3 highway patrol. 2 of them were dealing with stupid 4-wheelers that either found themselves in the median or were testing the strength of the trees along the side of the highway. The trees won.

The casino was calling me when I got to Salamanca, but the potholes in the highway jolted me back and reminded me that I've got 4 time definite deliveries on this load, with a bonus to be paid for making all of them on time. :)

ol'hand, we got this pretty new HUT sticker on the front bumper, so we might as well use it, no? :)

The owner chuckles when I talk about alternate routes for toll avoidance, and tells me to put the hammer down to get loads off quicker. I don't think he'll be too worried about a little HUT bill lol.

I live near that casino :) ... 86 is easily the fastest route for that run, even with the reservation potholes lol
