I went with vaping and am very happy with the results. I don't cough anyore at all. I can smell and taste things again and I feel much better than I did when I was burning them.

I was a heavy smoker and smoked from when I was 14years old till I was 35 and I havent had a smoke in 8 years what I did is I used the patches but instead of changing them out daily I would leave them on until the nicotine wore out of them maybe leave them on till you start really nicking out then put a fresh one on and slowly leave them on longer and longer till it builds up your tollarence for the lack of nicotine it got to the point I didnt need the patch anymore. and did not have the cold turkey side effects

The following pic just illustrates just how bad I'm addicted to smoking. Been smoking for over 40 years, btw.
While stuck in Cook County, IL (where the county tax on all cigs is astronomical), and being out of cigs, I actually (insanely) had to pay $11.10 for a single pack.
This is the normal pricing in this county, btw.

Yep, I admit, I'm truly insane in paying this much for a single pack.
But,, like TheDude1969, I'm also lookin' for a way out.
I do love smoking, but the costs are killing me (worse than the smoke).

Roadmedic, good TTNews link article on the Chantix.
I hadn't known much about that drug before, other than "it's available" for quitters.

Welcome to Crook county, Illinois. Don't know what's more pathetic. $10 per pack or the fact that they gave you a huge 1 cent discount lol

I tried the horse pills that you can get at sam's club. it has an awful after taste. the nearly intsant heart burn you get. along with the gagging and chocking. and sudden desire to lick your butt crack to get the tatse out of your mouth. is enough. to put a person off from wanting to quit smoking. there the blue bottles that come as an 8 pack. they are decieving. i popped the first one at work thinking at first. this isn't too bad. and then the pill starts dissolving. oh my! what'd i do! is what you will be thinking as the above takes place.

I quit cold turkey little over a year ago. First two weeks were the hardest as I would still buy smokes. So what i started to do was buy a pack, enjoy that first one, then fling the pack out the window going down the highway. You quit real quick paying $5+ for one cigarette. I know a lot of people have had good luck with e-cigs. While you aren't kicking the nicotine habit, at least you are getting rid of the smoke and all the crap in your lungs that goes with it.
