OP...why wouldn't you take the load that night? Short on hours? Tired? Sick?

by saying that you would pick it up in the morning, you were refusing the load/job.

did you explain that you had no hours? was your truck in the shop? were you sick...??

your posting is quite ambiguos to all the pertanent details.

so only as i read it, you refused to work..

fireable offense every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

First thing: A company that uses Hire Right information to screen a candidate isn't a company that's worth working for.

Second thing: Hire Right is subject to the same rules as the credit bureaus. You can use the same process to dispute inaccurate information in your HR record that you would use to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report.

Let me try to clarify a little bit. At the time of the incident I was in a different truck of which I was only to use for that day, which had a dirty mattress. I was an hour away from the place of pick up at 4 in the afternoon and 1 hour away from my house I was also an hour away from the place even if I went home. On this job I am usually home daily unless I get stuck out someplace far and would have to spend the night. On this particular load he just didn't want to spend the extra fuel for me to go home. So he wanted me to spend the night in some desolate areas that I was unfamiliar with.. I told him I would pick the load up in the morning when the load was due to be picked-up. He wanted me to spend the night. So he and I went back and forth and he told me to bring the truck back and park it which I did.

I'm not disputing the fact that I was fired. I'm disputing that he's reporting that I quit under a load

Should not be a bid deal as long as you were not under load. Anyone who would hire you isnt worth working for anyway. Check out the companies that do USPS, opay is around 28 bucks an hour

So if he reported that you quit under a load, and you feel that is inaccurate, then you need to dispute that inaccurate information with the reporting agency (hire right).

The procedure to dispute is the same procedure that you would use to dispute inaccurate information on your credit report, and has the backing of Federal law.

Do the research, and make the dispute.

they want to control that man lively hood by tarnishing his reputation. We all say its my CDL in our pocket but then you get scum companies that want to take you out. I look in mostly every truck and see Eld,
Camera, and Steering wheel Holder. I see trucking as a easy job that can pay more but you have other people piggy backing off our business. Dispatchers,Safety,Dot,Mechanics, Carb Brokers, and anything that get in the way of that truck being able to haul freight.

    In other words possible insubordination.

He got sick of you, lost his temper and eliminated you.

Half of America is desolate. That's a good thing. Last thing I want to do is sleep in west central Chicago...

Now that matreess and the truck. What about hotel. Surely there is one around.

Both of you agreed the load is due to be picked up in the morning so... that's not the problem.

What is left? 40 miles worth of fuel to and from your house? Say 25 dollars worth of fuel?

Is your boss that stupid and intolerant that he was to save 25 dollars in fuel by making you stay where you are? Are company profits that small to which 25 dollars cost will break them sitting on a 200,000 dollar tractor trailer burning that in idle anyway?

Im not willing to accept you were fired because you refuse to help save the company 25 dollars.

If that was the problem and you really wanted to go home. Pay the man his 25 dollars and go home. It's half the cost of a hotel anyhow.

This is a tough crowd in this forum, I'm on your side I would not sleep in a nasty truck either. Plenty of jobs, always another load, no big deal. Most of the high paying jobs do not even use Hire Right. Dispute his charges, add your own of what happened and move on.
These companies like to crap on the drivers, they ve been doing it so long the driver expect it. I just turned a company down today for new employment because they told me upfront they expect me to come to work on my days off if Im called out, just told them stright up, not going to happen my family is more important than your load to me. So I'm think in there probably not going to call and thats ok to.
I work for an exccellent temp agency, so Im not really looking to leave. Check out Centerline Drivers to see what you think, they treat drivers good. Just dont have lots of work close to me.
