I started working for a training company. I just finished the school portion, and two days before finishing the announced that we would be paid $25 instead of the $64 we were promised. I can't afford the way they keep dinging us for every little thing, and then cut the pay.

My understanding is that they are going to put a bad report on my DAC no matter what I do. Is there a way to leave during the training period without causing too much damage?

They really put me out here and left me screwed, but I don't want that to hurt the rest of my driving chances.

What "training" company was this? Was the $64.00 daily pay? No company in their right mind would lower the pay 66% and expect anyone to remain. Has to be a...any!...labor law violation there. Were there any contracts signed that had the "trainee" pay amount listed?

the problem here is that you are at a trucking company...??? if you signed any type of contract, they CAN ding you for this and for that. it should be in the contract what they are "dinging " you for. best to just stay with them. because as you said, they said the will give you a bad DAC, and frankly, i believe them....put in some time, say about 4 to 6 months, give your notice and book feet.

no labor law violations. the only thing any state labor board can do is enforce the minimum wage requirements. let's not forget what the o/p is saying, he's in a "training company"....it will be spelled out to him what his earnings will be. this will not come under any labor board. trucking companies just simply do not come under most labor laws....

Always give notice before quitting. And anything put on your DAC can be disputed.

Sorry driver, I try to spread the word about avoiding the mega-carriers. This is the kind of stuff that they practice. Hopefully you learned a good lesson and will spend some time doing some homework. Find a good reputable smaller company. The ones that aren't advertising as much. This means the drivers are happier there. If it doesn't take any effort to get hired on then the company is not worth it. Good luck to you!

And if you have to go...... return all co. property and get it signed for. Photograph your truck inside and out at departure and give them 2 weeks notice by certified letter. Copy to FM and HR.

    Best you can do.... JMO

So let's say I get hired by a company. Arrive for orientation and then they say, "we said we would pay you.35 cpm, but we lied to you and have decided to pay you nothing, and if you quit because we lied to you, we will DAC you so no one else will hire you." There has to be way to protect a driver...hell, anyone.....from this!

I don't think you're hired till you sign the tax papers and are assigned a trainer/truck.

If you leave during orientation you were never an employee so I don't think they could DAC you then.

i speak from experience on this, as i too left a company during orientation, the old PST flatbed out of Davenport, IA.........

they DAC'd me, but i got it cleared, but took a LONG TIME to get it clear....
