Is that a bad thing? Idk? 90% of the time I would rather unload it myself than wait 3 hours and be treated like #### from some d bag who is having a really difficult time growing facial hair.

That's exactly it... Making $47k-56k, but home every night, and not just for 8 hours to sleep. Its like having an office job, only not as boring.

I did worse when I was younger lol. I used to pitch hay, split wood, and up until a few years ago did construction (carpentry)

but even then it’s only to cover for someone if they need it.

I just hope they didn’t call my current employer because my boss was acting odd Friday

Clearinghouse. Your new employer has to contact your old employer for all that Clearinghouse stuff. Do you have your belongs out of the truck?

That's what I used to do as well. I would always put a note on the application telling the new employer to not contact my current employer until an offer has been accepted. There's no Fed law that states they can't do it that way and I never had a problem with it.

There is one small point I would like to make here. There is no way I would make a conditional job offer until after I had complied with 391.23. Based on my reading and understanding of 391.23 it is NOT possible to go through the hiring process and the old employer does NOT know. This information is required by FMCSA rules to be made part of the driver's qualification files.

On a more personal note. The FMCSA is not what it was 20 years ago. They are tightening up on these investigations. I suggest getting this old mindset OUT of your minds and learning these rules. 391.23 is NOT optional on a hiring carrier. The drug clearinghouse is just a small part of it all.

Again, I am not trying to start something. Just reminding EVERYBODY that in today's world it is almost impossible for a hiring company to make a job offer until they have made contact with a present or past employer. This is NOT me saying this. It is part 391!

I happen to be a motor carrier now and there's nothing in the regs that says I must verify current employment at a particular time. It says something to the effect that I must use due diligence. I can legally check all previous employment and save the current employer for last after an offer has been accepted. There's plenty of other ways I can pull this off as well but I won't be blasting them on a public site.
