I once was picking up in Paris tx & I notified my flt mgr load wasn't ready....he got on the phone the brain dead fool from Tulsa office & then told me to go over 100 mi to marietta ok to pick up a load...when I get there..there shocked to see me..want to know why???....

The moron from Tulsa told the customer that they couldn't pick up the load therefore he canceled yet sent me there...he did it around the same time he was on phone with me & flt mgr..

This just shows just how bad the line of communication is between them in the office.

Yep, I remember more than once going to pick up a load that had already been cancelled, or one that had already been picked up by another Knight truck.

The single most repeated word in the driver handbook is communicate. Looks like that, like most things at Knight, Is just polish on a turd.

Gee, I wonder why there is a "driver shortage"? :biggrin_25511: (Answer: Cause companies can't find enough people to **** with and turn into completely jaded haters of the world)

Just got off the phone with Knight. Finally got it approved for the wife to not have to go solo after a 2-4 week stint with a trainer. Should have driver codes by this afternoon and be in a truck by tomorrow.

Sounds like some good news. Hopefully the wont screw with you to much since you already caused some waves. When you get your driver number does that mean you got knighted and do we have to call you "Sir RizenPhoenix" from now on? :biggrin_25519: Or is it just like any other job where they just sticked it to you in the you know what :biggrin_25511:

No titles, the second half will remain to be seen. I'm going to try and start with a clean slate and a positive attitude. If things go smoothly great we'll stay with them till we've saved up for our own truck and trailer. If things are less smooth we'll stay a year so the wife has an year of experience and move on to someplace more conducive to our ultimate goals. Either way Knight will get their freight hauled safely and professionally. How long they have use of our service is entirely up to them.

That is good to hear and all one can do. I am looking at Knight as well, but would have to be a Squire since I have not driven for anybody in a while. They have a yard in Kent WA that is not to far from my house. I will keep checking back on your thread here to see how things are going with Knight. I talked to Central and I could start as soon as I want to go to WVC in Utah.

Of the two, I recommend Knight over Central. My wife just finished training at Central and while the trainer she had was great, the miscellaneous fee's they deduct from your pay for thinks like locks, securement devices, and an escrow to cover any damage you do to the truck will leave your check much shorter then you think. You'll get home way more often at Knight as well and during your squire training time you won't have to run as a team with your trainer.

What did your wife have to do to get out of Central after training? Did you guys just have to pay for the training or did they give her a hard time and mess her DAC report up? That is the biggest problem I have at this point. That I have to go to one of the training companies to get back in trucking. I am looking at driving schools to do a refresher, but some companies do not accept them either and want to see 160hrs of training. I have a current cdl and dot physical just no recent driving history and three of the 4 companies I worked for are out of business. No, I or my driving had nothing to do with that. People keep looking at me as I have lost my mind since I want to go drive. I will take quite the pay cut, very litttle home time and so on. I am stuck in an office with a view of Highway 16 and luckily the windows don't open so I wont through myself out of the 2nd story window :).
I will definitivly give Squire another look and keep wondering about Schneider as well. I know they don't train, but allow for the refresher. Last question is Knight/Squire all refrigerated or do they have a regular van division as well.

Last question first, Squire is for both refer and dry van.

We owe Central 2800 bucks for her training. Don't know what they will do to her DAC but they already reported the debt to collections.

We have to be at Tulare in an 1 1/2 hours to get our picture ID's, driver codes and for me to get my truck and hit the road. They have my wife a female trainer so that's a good thing too.
