You guys are moving right along. Good luck to both of you. I love when they call collections before they even bill you. I guess $2800.00 is still cheaper than going through a driving school.

Okay got driver codes and fuel cards. My truck will be ready sometime tomorrow morning. Getting a 2011 Volvo. Still working on finding the wife a trainer. She insists on a non smoker and the company insists on a female. Seems finding both those things in the same person is kind of hard.

Finally had time and interwebs for an update.

Finally got a truck on friday, the 2011 Volvo never materialized, instead I got a 2009 Pete 387. Here's a quick breakdown of what happen since.

    Friday
    Local $36
Tulare-Lebec-Tulare(blew an air bag on my first run!) 204 miles

    Saturday
    Tulare-lebec-Emeryville 405 miles

    Sunday
    Emeryville-lebec-Carson 390 miles

    Monday
    Carson-Fontana-Compton 117 miles and $72 local pay.
    Compton-Fontana-Stockton(delivering on Tuesday) 420 miles.

As of tonight they have not found a trainer for my wife yet. We will see what tomorrow brings.

How long until they would let you become a trainer? See if they can make an exception and let you train her.

Already asked that question. Maybe at the end of the 90 day probationary period. Standard answer is after 1 year current service.

How long have you been married ? Seems if she isn't trained by now, she never will be. ; - )

Im an ex-knight as well. Heading back to KC to go thru orientation again Monday. Given a choice, I would select a different company, but on short notice, I need to just get in a truck quick. I spent the last 18 months delivering beer, and the only good things about it was, home every night, and free beer. I really do not look forward to going over the road again, but have no choice. Keep us posted on your progress. I know that a trucking company is only as good as you make it.

Hi there. First post. Thought I'd try to make it a useful one... (I'm a wannabe, FWIW)

RizenPhoenix, you may want to check out this thread, if you haven't already.
    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...2-eeoc-brings-class-action-against-prime.html

It basically is stating that it is against EEOC law for a trucking company to require a female trainer to train a female driver.

    Good luck to you both.

I don't understand this? The company makes you pay for items that they should provide? Obviously, something just isn't right here at Knight. Makes no sense. I've been doing this a long time and have never had to pay for anything. I've never done OTR but why would a company charge you for items that should be provided to you to do your Job? I don't get it? Please fill me in.

First let me be clear. It is Central Refrigerated that charges drivers for all those things. Knight provides you with anything they require you to have on the truck without a charge or deposit.

As for why some companies do it. Pretty simple, because we let them and they are all about the $$$.
