I never worked for precentage, it depends on what the load is paying, and what you get for that %. I have a friend that gets paid 28% of the load, and from what he has seen over the last 2 years. That milage is much better. Milage is not all what its cracked up to be unless you are getting paid all miles, most are useing pcmiler wich is zip to zip. I mean if I had 3 stops in that zip, Im doing it for free. Trucking companies are not put on this earth to make the trucker rich, most places i have seen if you work a 70 hour week(come on really 80) most companies are paying 12 to 15 an hour when you break it down.

well as of so far the percentage has worked out better than if i got paid miles I blew a turbo in PA and they paid for my hotel room and paid me for the 24 hours that my truck was broke down for exsample i picked up a load in New Haven WV that goes too Saukville WI it will pay me $320.00 if I got paid milage I would only get $252.00 and that has been the way it has been but sometimes you get a bad paying load but that is given when you are at the bottom of the list

Well thats great pay for a days work, must of been a great load, those same miles could pay half of that with precentage as well. Also keep in mind that alot of companies will give you great loads when you first start up with them, to keep you happy. I hope in your case with this terrible economy that RJ keeps it up for ya. Keep us posted!

Well I have been at R&J for 4 weeks now and I must say it is going good. I run up to chicago alot but I would rather go to chicago than the east coast. I have been making around $200 a day so that is good. They are really nice people to work for and that means alot to me. You can actually call your dispatcher and he is nice and very appreciative of what you are doing for the company. I like it alot.

If you have a family, do not work here. They have no compassion for what is going on with your family. They are like a machine that just wants to produce money money money. You can have a terminally ill family member and as long as you come to work every single day, it is all they care about because is not their problem. Owner operators don't have it quite as bad on the compassion side, but they don't work much these days either. Potential employees beware. Unless you have no family and no responsibilities, GO ELSEWHERE!

I quit r&j about 3 months ago only because, I live 2 hours from their terminal and I found a local gig making good money but I had a hard time leaving them. I was on their otr/regional board. A first year driver can expect to make $50,000 (I made $52,000) You get to know the dispatchers on a personal note and they take very good care of the equipment. They pay percentage and they are fair about it, some loads pay great money and some are fair but nothing is actually bad. All loads are customer loads so no brokers are getting a cut. I'd highly recommend them if your in their hiring area.

    Garyd6 Thanks this.
