R&L Carriers pays straight time only,...You will be expected to use all or most of your 70 hour clock in a week and receive no overtime after 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week,...

And you wonder how they can have fancy resorts????

That's the problem, interstate carriers and carriers that don't own their freight are exempt from any over time laws. Really sad.

Touche' Brickman ! For the true sniff test for any carrier is their driver waiting list. They don't need a retention manager or a "club diesel".... they only need mention to the current fleet that there is an opening.

Let us be clear here, carriers CHOOSE to exploit the exemption. How else could you afford 100,000 feet of office space complete with pillars? A private gym? Money to sponsor a NASCAR team? By not paying overtime!

I agree wholeheartedly. Many employees count on overtime opportunities to make ends meet. At our company we have ample opportunity for overtime, and we don't resrtict drivers from working but we don't mandate it either. Sure it cost us more in employment tax but that's worth it to us for driver retention. We use to have OTR and paid by the hour based on hours logged, unfortunately we had a few drivers drag out a route and with the economy in the slump we were forced to out source our meat back hauls.
