I answered you on your other post. If you are near a good tech, go see him. It shouldn't cost much to check everything out, plus watch and ask questions and it will be a good learning experience.

I bought a general lee from mesa guys got it together its a rockin radio. Loud and proud

I had sent mesa a galaxy 959 I purchased from a different shop about a year before. Only used it for a month or so and started having problems with it. When I would key up with power turned up more than halfway it would float to different frequencies. And also just cut in and out. With multiple issues I did not feel comfortable sending it back to the shop I got it from. After a relative who had used mesa for many years kept recommending them I decided to send it to them.
After sending it down there I got a call he said this radio had been hacked from the beginning and he could get it working but would prefer not to touch it and have his name associated with it. He didn't feel confident it would last long after he fixed it. He said it could go a month or a year before malfunctioning again but he didn't want his name on it. He said he would ship it back on his dime free of charge.
This said a lot to me about the shop. They didn't want to put there name on something that wouldn't last and also it was nice of him to ship it back to me on his dime.
I waited about a week and a half got my galaxy back and called them. Asked his opinion about what radio he would recommend as a good solid radio that would last me many years. He recommended the connex hp3300. He got it together for me and shppshipped it out. This radio screams. Doesn't bleed over to other frequencies and sounds great. I am constantly getting compliments on it. I didn't just hook this radio to a stock setup. I am not using the factory coax and my Wilson 2000. Ran my own rg8x and properly grounded the steel mirror mounts to the frame on my pete. I am sure the coax, antenna, and proper grounding play a big part in this but overall I got a good radio from them -

over 10 years old! WTF??!? Those are the ones worth working on IMO vs the throwaways they make nowadays....
Anyway, he tells me if I want to come back in a few hours the "boss" might work on it himself;or he might not want to either. Hit the door and took it to High Tech on US 301 west of Jacksonville and they got me fixed right up. Mesa can stuff it.....
