This hickabilly CB hack shop is selling Texas Star linear amplfiers, calling them "cw transmitters"... OMG

Oh and I see they are doing the "Super Whack-Pack" hack too... If they service a radio that they did not sell, they require the customer to allow them to add the whack-pack hack to the repaired radio for an extra $100 on the repair bill.... A fool and his money are soon parted LOL

I don't get the joke....I guess your trying to be funny, but it's getting lost in translation...

Texas Star Amp's have always been called CW Transmitters...Even by Texas Star....

As for Mike's shop, your quote is being taken out of text. Or is just totally made-up. I have had Mike fix some radios before that I didn't buy from him, and was never charged $100 or even $1 more for the repair...Now they may ask you if you want the whack-pac deal, but its not mandatory...

what W4 is talking about is CW is for morse code in the ham world, thus requiring some kind of a key to send it. I guess Texas Star thinks it sounds neat, for it is no CW radio for sure.

Actually, according to the manufacturers website, those are actual cw transmitters. Also, I note they only output >5 watts. Looks like legit radio equipment.

Better check out the equipment manufacturer site here...it looks like your wrong about that.I agree it doesn't look like the usual CW transmitter...but apparently it is the real deal...just old school.

Actually...Texas Star says the same thing...you have to have a crystal installed for the frequency you want the CW to work on. Sort of like those old 1970's business band Motorolas, remember those? We had a fleet of service trucks in TN with them.
