Radio crackles and sometimes won't work

    CB is a general lee the antenna is a Wilson 3000, with a 30 ft coax.
    Antenna is attached to the driver side fairing handle and runs under the truck into the engine bay cleanly into the cab of a Volvo.
    It was installed by the guy in Houston four G's. I have no complaints except when randomly I press to transmit all I get are crackling sounds and won't transmit or receive anything. I turn the CB on later on and it's working fine again. Any idea what that could be? Oh and by the way after this install I'm now picking up that idiot in New Mexico who never shuts up.

    It's possible you have a cold or bad solder joint in the radio, or maybe a problem in the microphone.
