When you update the TND, try not to multi-task with other downloads. It only takes about 5 minutes. A user did some damage to the OS (operating system).
Computers can multi-task, but on Air-cards, information packets can become unstable if you are putting new meanings to hog the bandwidth.

What happened over the weekend to a new user is just beyond me how fellow drivers treat others.
As was posted yesterday a new user bought a TND from a truck stop 2 hours from their home. Home time is short enough as is. She contacted me this morning and we did some verifing and found out that her external SD card had the data deleted.
Now, if you buy an TND and feel you do not wish to keep it, please return all the parts and do not go as far as deleting Data from it. I am sure that the person did it, not only did it on purpose, as you have to be connected to a computer and you have to look at the external drives, but thought that is was probably funny.
I can tell you that the driver that bought the TND was not amused. She is 120 miles from any type of help in returning the TND. Luckily she is on home time till Friday, so I was able to overnight her a new SD data card.
Mapping is contained on the external SD card on the T5B and it is over 2.5gb of data. Sending via the internet was not an option.
I know the data was deleted as the orginal Rand SD card was in the slot.
Please be considerate of others when returning a high value item.

Hi Mark!
Since a cuople week's I thinking about to by a TND,but the post about "Returning TND's" make's me thinking when I buy a TND it could occur, that I
pay the full price of a new unit and get a used one. Do I thinking right?

Most returned TND's are returned within a day or two of purchase. When you buy one, I would open it right there to visually inspect it.
If nothing seems wrong and later you find issues, then contact the store you bought it from first and if they are unwilling to help, then by all means contact me.
Thanks,
Mark -
Small issue today. Why would the TND show an eta to destination in Eastern time when I'm deep in the Central time zone (Oklahoma)? Unit is set to Central too. Btw she even anounced "changing time zone" as I was traveling into Illinois from Indiana.
-
Rand sees this issue from time to time. Most difficult to try to pinpoint where in the code it is misbehaving...
It should have corrected itself and if it did not, a reboot should have put you in the right ETA for the time zone you were in.
Thanks,

Dave 1960 and Mark Kling Thank this.

75 through Okmulgee, OK is not restricted. It's even a marked truck route. The TND insists that it isn't to the point that I had to turn it off to get it to shut up. The glare off the stupid full screen popup wasn't helping either.
So far through KS and OK the it has only been right when it matched the 465t. The routing is terrible. -
we will see what the mapping data has.
Thanks,
Mark
