the suction cup is strong,, but made for a windshield... have not tried it attached to a dash yet,, reason being that some dashes have oils and reduces the suction to the cup.. but I could buy one of those pads for the dash and get back to you on this.
I have run up to 5 via points on the multiroute... will have to query RM on max though... 5 on one trip is a lot..what is your max your need?
It gives you a smaller pop up window showing your exit... but not understanding... do you need each exit number as you go by it or just the one you need to get off at?
POI's are the common items, gas stations, resturants, etc... the warnings screen allows you to set the distance you wish to be notified.. you could set 20 miles if you like...
Turning off the unit, does that, turns the unit off.. could query ran on maybe putting a button to turn the screen off, unit running and tapping the screen bringing the map online again... good idea.. have to run that by RM
Hope this helps,,
Mark

depends on where you mount it... I suspect somewhere in front of you... I have never seen a problem picking up GPS yet... 99% of the Beta testers run on internal antenna... with no problems..
When I am at home testing the units.. I pick up at least 8/11 satellites inside my house.. about 2 feet in from the outside wall...
Thanks,

Probably no more than 10 via points, on a long trip I like to plug in my fuel stops and my stops for each of my 10 hr breaks which arent always the same thing.
Sometimes you hear about something on the CB at a certain Milepost or exit, and ask yourself.."where am I"..lol
Would be kinda nice if you could see Weigh Stations on the map.
Yea I currently am using Copilot 11 and at night just close the laptop stand, but am leaning towards getting rid of it for a number of reasons. -
RM is coming out with another type of mounting. This will allow you to attach to the front of your dash like you would like. No real big details yet...
max via points is 10 per RM
on the bottom of the screen (right of the sprocket) you tap on that and it will show you the next uncomming street, exit, etc,,, great for those BIG signs that they put at intersections at 2am in the morning and the street light that could not lite up an oven..
If in regard you are talking about the screen being too bright.. their is a brightness control under preferences.. I never really had too much problems with the screen glare... I normally run 5 units on my dash as I am testing.
Hope this helps out more.

Driving in the Northeast can be a problem.
New York in particular. They have many bridges that are listed lower than there actual height. I was on 278 driving through Brooklyn the other day and drove under a bridge with a sign saying 12'2''. My trailer was 13'6".
I have no idea why NY does this but I have seen it many times.
I don't know if the height on the signs is the same as listed in the map data bases but if it is it would effect the suggested route supplied by the GPS.
I don't know how RM can deal with this. -

While the Rand Mcnally is sounding really nice, I think I will postpone jumping on it bandwagon for a while to come. I already have spent almost $500 for the Garmin 465T, and feel I got burned. Lesson learned!! I'll wait and see how this unit pans out over the next 6 months or so. For now I will just use the Garmin 255W and the Rand Mcnally Trucking Atlas.

OK, what you are talking about is an old system, you'll notice that the signs are yellow with black lettering, that is an old snow emergency system that shows the clearance with 1 foot of snow on the ground, so the actual clearance is one foot more, the yellow with black lettering is an avisory sign, the white with blck lettering is and absolute clearance.
In short, if the sign is yellow with black, you have an additional 1 foot, if it is white with black, that is actual clearance.
Hope that helpsonelikeseabass, Dave 1960, Torque2Haul and 2 others Thank this.
