It is garbage, try using a known route youre familiar with. Holy Smoke!!
I was in Odessa, TX on (I-20), trying to get to El Paso, routes through Odessa onto the farm roads to some rural route. Total trip was 285 miles. I go with what I know and proceed to I-20 it recalculates I lose 25 miles off the trip and save time.
I feel sorry for any O/O out there that is using this, the unnecessary road taxes would be unbelievable.
I should have kept the Cobra, the update system on the RM seems more straight forward but apparently RM doesnt know how to fix there own product.
its Garbage.
Mark, no need to reply here. Ive road tested this hunk of junk now for a few months. I just dont have the time to devote to sending in every single problem to RM for review. It would be almost a full time gig.

Guys...dont give up here. I know it can be frustrating but hang in there. This product still has GREAT support and the potential to be the BEST unit. Rand listens to us and uses feedback for new features and better performance....
No matter WHAT device you use out there it will not be perfect. But here we have Mark and his support group that understand truckers...this device was designed from the ground up FOR TRUCKERS - not like the most of the competition that simply 'converted' a unit unto a trucker model.
I have both the 5" and 7" models (use in the car and truck) and love them. Have I had issues? Of course...but nothing was a show stopper. Common sense prevails here. Use this as a 'tool' much like our Trucker's Road Atlas.... -
also mine is a T5B

Bosco, upon reviewing several of your past posts, you have mentioned that the TND is garbage, yet in none of your posts since April have you given Rand any information on the issues you are having. You post a lot on another Thread, which is fine, but I cannot address the issues you are having if I am not given details.
Anybody can come on this site and post negatively about anything. But, as a person once told me. Do not complain about something unless you have a solution.
The route the TND gives you is a truck legal route depending on if you have it set to Fastest or Shortest. It is a recommended route. If you wish to go a different way, then you control the steering wheel. The TND only records mileage that you travel, not the miles in the routing unless you go that path.
Road testing means you should have kept records of the TND's strengths and weaknesses. Did you?
If the TND did not follow the pathway you wanted and demanded of the TND, then maybe the TND is not for you. You are the final piece of the puzzle as to the route you wish to go.
Please give me details as to how the TND did not perform to your standards so Rand may duplicate the issues and see if there are indeed items to be looked at.
If you have the time and effort to simply post that the TND is garbage, then you would have time to list a few of the items that the TND is not doing correctly.
What version is your TND on?
Thanks,
Mark -
Connect your TND up to your computer.
Go to your start menu and click on (my) computer.
The TND should show up as an external drive.
On the T5B you will see a drive with only the Navi and RM folder.
Double click on the Navi folder.
Delete only and only the Bin and Layouts folders.
Start your TND Dock and do the update.
If your issue still there, let me know.
Thanks,
Mark -
Mark you are the man !!!!! It now works... Is this going to happen again?? Or am I good now????
-
Sorry, we cannot control the internet, wish we could, but we are putting in different CRC checks to insure that the updated files are the size they should be.
In the Navi Folder you can delete the Bin, Layouts, Logs, and Data folders and the TND Dock will rebuild them.
In the RM folder you can delete the Data Folder and the TND Dock will rebuild it.
You just do not want to delete the User folder out of each. This contains your personal settings as well as the license for the TND to run.
Thanks,
Mark -
I have to deliver to all the post offices in most unfriendly truck places around including Northern NJ, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Northern VA. I have as many as 20 stops a day. I use a variety of equipment including 53', 48', 45', and 28' trailers, plus some straight trucks. I currently use a car gps, maps, and alot of common sense and good luck to get around. I was wondering what truck gps (if any) would reduce the stress in my life. Some days I dont get the luxury of an interstate for 5 or 6 hours because I'm riding around a city making all my deliveries. You would not beleive how many post offices there are in every city. Please help!

Or in MASS,,, trying to back up a hill with a automatic..
You will find that a lot of the roads are going to be NON-STAA routes and the TND looks for STAA routes. You can always change your settings, but 20 times a day is asking a lot to keep changing.
This is going to be a tough choice for you due to the nature of your loads.
The TND will work, but you will have to do some fancy settings.
Thanks,
MarkGumptruck Thanks this.
