Rand McNally intelliRoute TND 500

Possibly, they took so long, because they wanted to get it right? That would be my GUESS, and it is only a guess. But Rand McNally has always prided themselves on having the best in the industry, as far as maps go. Maybe they wanted to work out all of the glitches in the GPS, before releasing it. I was going to get the PC Miler 440 that comes out 2 days sooner, for $200 less, but somehow, I think maybe it would be worth it to start with the Rand McNally.
Also, FYI, I heard that Cobra is coming out with a truck specific GPS, with a 7" screen, which should be good for us older guys. But, I think that for now, the 5" Rand McNally, should be sufficient, for me. I still have 20/25 uncorrected vision.

It sounds to me, anyway, like they tried to get it right. There are no reviews of it yet, showing on the Rand McNally site, but I am sure there are some already out there "Beta testing", like software platforms do, to get feedback, before it's final release date.

None yet. I even wrote to them asking for some more info. We'll see.

 

I'm waiting to hear about it too. My bf is new to the industry and when I asked about an atlas everyone said McNally was the best so I hope the have the best trucker GPS too. It's extremely expensive but may be worth it in the long run if it actually works without too many bugs.

 

I have some doubt, I don't doubt that Rand McNally is the leader in mapping, but I am thinking I might wait a while before running out to buy one. Give 'em a chance to work out the bugs!

 

It isn't that pricey for what it does. For me it means I don't have to buy a sat tracking unit for $1000 plus $32 per month. Primary reason to track and calculate IFTA mileage. Company drivers don't need to do this. But with all the features is about $100 over the top gps software solution. With the cost of a quality net book means TND500 is less. Usable for a company driver, seems targeted toward O/O's.
