A reboot is simply turning it off and back on again.... old school DOS term.

You should have junctions view that pop up or you can once in a route, go to the map screen, upper right, click on the icon showing 3 lines... this is your turn by turn list.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Rand Support does have a blue 1.1 USB hub that can be given out to those with issues between their TND and the laptop in handshaking. The TND may say connected, but you may not have the handshaking in place or the TND may just show a normal screen and never initiate handshaking.

Usually this will be on the following

    64bit/win 7 (certain brands/models)

    i series processors.

The newer laptops tend to be more energy efficient on the USB ports; they tend to share power between the ports. Sometimes you can go to your settings and turn on the laptop to full power, buy a powered USB hub - although not a guarantee on this,,, about a 50/50, or get the 1.1 blue USB hub is all else has been tried.

I know my Toshiba took 30 minutes for it to finally see the TND and although i have 6 ports, I sometimes have to jump the ports around. The laptop tends to forget the driver I think. The driver is already on the laptop, it just needs to assign it.

One other thing I have found is that each port is assigned a Drive letter. Once in a blue moon that port becomes hung and you have to delete it out of the registry. If you assign virtual ports to a drive this may be the case.

You can always E-Mail me and I can work with you on your connection issues. I always will find time for the driver.

    Thanks,

    Mark

UPDATE: Well after all the problems I was having with my replacement units I received a call from "someone who makes decisions" at Rand. He was very apologetic and offered to send me the updgraded version (510) to replace my old (500). The new unit has the new mapping system in it but still has a few quirks ie: will route me one set of roads to Phoenix but returning to the same place will route me on a completely different set of roads. The power cord is nicer cuz it "softer" the old cord would hold its memory "so to speak" and have all the fold kinks in it- more in the way of the switches when it hangs to the lighter socket--a couple other things is that the new unit has frozen up a couple times but comes back to life after a couple minutes. Also the power cord plug is on the other side which isnt that big of a deal either - it just hangs in a different spot coming down the dash- its harder to move it out of the way because it is now on the left side -- really no big deal though. ANYWAY I just wanted to post that they did make good on the bad units and sent me a Brand New unit this time, he even offered to send me the 7" model for free - but I stuck with the smaller one. The new unit does have more to offer so I would only suggest to get the 510 not the 500 series.

I started with DOS 5.0. I hated when windows came out, too many memory leaks.

Try CP/M... when IBM released DOS 2.0 (Billy Gates had a "helping hand" in that) it was a major let-down, and a step backward. They took the last version of CP/M renamed the functions, and stripped-out the hard disk support.

Is this specifically in regards to the 15 second delay? I can check it out further if you want.

OK I'll keep a closer eye on it, including exactly when it happens so maybe you can look at the logs. I am a bit of a "power user" if you know what i mean.
