last post went south...
I posted yesterday how to do a multi-stop route. I hope this helps.
The lack of response from tech support was send directly to RM, they are resolving that issue. It is not the high standards that RM wants to put out to customers such as yourself.
Tech Support is critical no matter where the product is in its life cycle. This is usually the biggest indication of where customers get a bad feel for a company.
From day one Rm wanted this 1st touch of the company from you the consumer to tech support to go with ease. RM will have this issue resolved.
The weigh station flagging on the wrong side. Do you remember where? Does it look like a weigh station used to be on your side?
main menu/preference/about... what are the last 8 of your version?
Thanks,
Mark

I agree that Garmin is still the gold standard, but even some of their units have issues.
I love my Nuvi 260.
But on the other hand I tried their 465T - allegedly designed for truckers - and sent it back.
It was worse than worthless.
I suspect the technology still has a ways to go - whether it's Rand McNally, Garmin, Magellan, TomTom or any of the dozens of others. -
I have used some that are good with interchanges and some that are not.
This is I believe the hardest thing to do with a GPS. Since they need to know your altitude as well as location.
When you get on a large interchange like in Dallas or NY, there may be 6+ roads going off of it, at different LVLs.
The more info they put into the unit at this point the better right?
Actually that could be wrong, since the more info that is there the more programing is required and the more questions the program will ask itself in order to give a good answer. This is the reason for the lag out.
When this lag out occurs badly many times it is because they have had issues with that location and have had to over right or change code a few times, trying to fix all the issues.
Later in the life of the program they normally have to rewrite the whole area to get it correct and the latency down.
They do not do this until they have other issues fixed though, so it can take a while.
I have been a game tester for MMO games for about 6 years now. This happens allot with them, and cleaning up the code can take a good bit of time.
I will give this unit a good 45 day trial, updating every time one is available.
Hopefully most of the bugs can be worked out in that time frame.
If not then RM needs to either think about extending it's return policy time, to allow them more room to fix the issues, or the item will be classified by the industry as another Dud.
I have every hope that they will keep working away. I have a feeling they released a month or so too early.
I can understand why they did release now, garman is making allot of sales, and the Christmas buying season is almost here.
They need a chance to get some money back into a project that up to release had only taken money out.
I also know their name is at stake here. This is a make or break product.
To drivers that have the product. Any time you find an issue, if at all possible make a note if it, and please report it next time you dock. These issues cannot be resolved if the company does not know about it.
That is one place I can give RM big props. They put the option in there so that users can help get the issues corrected. How many other GPS products do that?bullhaulerswife and RAG Thank this. -

you are on the most current version. We have that issue noted and it will be corrected.
It is in the hands of the engineers as we speak...
again sorry for the mis-direction.
Thanks,
Mark -
the version that rcn224 listed is the most current version.
2009.9.1392.2101
when the next production version is released I will post this on the this thread.
If your units does not show the above version, then please update asap.
Thanks,

I would use Tom Tom XL 340S(good unit,price,w/ IQ Routes & Lane Guidance) http://www.jr.com/tomtom/pe/TMT_XL340/ and RM Road Atlas for this moment...

This is frustrating because I need to purchase a new GPS this week and it seems that the RM version has great potential but is not quite there yet... I hate to spend $500 and then have to troubleshoot the device. A GPS is suppose to be there to assist me, not the other way around.... With so much updating needed one would think it would have been offered at a entry level price and then had a price change when RM was confident that the high price was justified. Just my opinion...

You would not be troubleshooting the device.
I have been on this thread since the release of the product. How many other companies out there have given you the consumer the chance to have your issues discussed directly with the Lead Beta Tester?
I am sure when you buy a new car that somewhere along the line it will have a serious recall done. I have a 99 jeep and still recalls are showing up.
I am not saying the product is perfect, but RM has tried to put out on the first release a quality product with features that drivers need.
I am not sure if anyone understands that when I say when I see a issue here that it goes to the person whom has direct control on this product.
I am not sending your issues to tech support.
All your issues are taken seriously, but if you have an issue then give me some background on it. That is the only way a issue can be fixed.
I cannot release what has been fixed due to it not being on the production version, but I can say a few issues noted here have been fixed on the beta version I have.
The wrong exit listing, even today a Sunday, Engineers have the mis-direction and are working on the databases to see what is causing that mis-direction.
RM is responding to your issues, if any are listed here. Simply telling me it routed you down a wrong road.... I cannot determine anything from vague information... Like I will give you $5 next year. When/where?
We are all professional drivers here and I am sure everyone is able to read a MCRA or remember details.
RCN224 gave me solid details, Now RM can find the issue.
I have noticed that others have posted and continue to post, yet do not or cannot give me any information. I have things to do also. I will respond to your post if needed, but I am here for the professional drivers who have questions about the unit, I am here for the professional drivers who have a unit and have come accross a problem.
If you have an actual unit, RM has provided the means to get input back to them either via the TND 500 or TND Dock. This goes to the highest levels at RM.
You have me, you have the TND 500 or the TND Dock to let your concerns be heard.
You can pm me if needed, but I will not post my E-Mail or phone number on this thread.
I offer to all again, I am a back door to RM, WHAT other navigation company has ever responded or given this offer in an open forum?
Thank you,
Mark
