Hi Mark, just wondering, for the 710, two things I feel would be a great advantage/addition, if they're possible..
1. Is there any plans, or way, to integrate weather app either for the present location of the unit, or for the programed route? Thought this might be feasible as it would require a receive only application.
2. A topographical map overlay, at street level, just so that it would be easier to determine the amount of elevation differences as we approach them.
Thanks Mark

Hi, my dad has an Intelliroute 510 TND unit that he needs for his runs, but it has recently displayed the error: "System Files Missing" and refuses to work. He tried contacting the manufacturer for a solution, but we cannot be shipped the SD card needed to reflash the device unless we provide proof of purchase, which he has apparently lost. Is there any way I can get the files needed to reflash the device with my own SD card? Or is there another method to get the 510 working again as soon as after this holiday? Thanks for your time.

I must admit that i haven't been thrilled with my TND 510 experience thus far. The first one i had, shortly after initial set-up i received a "Navi.net has enountered a major error and must shut down", type message and all it did after that was just refresh the screen over and over and wouldn't let me enter any data.
So i took it back in exchange for another one. This new one has been much better from a reliability standpoint, but more gliches were on the way: I have it set to recognize weigh stations at 2 miles, and on a trip fron TN to IA it alerted me to none of them. Once close to my destination in IA (which ended up being a 1/4 mile from the interstate), it decided it wanted to go shopping downtown and had me making some fairly ridiculous twists and turns which proved to be completely unneccessary.
Finally, entering the consignee i asked the security guard if going thru town was the only way there, and he ####ed his said and said: "Uh, no." "The interstate is on the other side of those trees." "Why you went into town to get here i have no clue." I didn't either.
Funny thing, that when i LEFT the consignee to go to my next destination - it took me the two short right hand turns to the interstate that was indeed located on the other side of the trees he alluded to. Why it didn't bring me in that way i have no idea. I've had some other small problems, but things i just chalk up to it being an electronic device.
The last thing i don't understand is why it rarely matches the routing provided to me by the fuel dept at the company i work for (a major carrier). It oftentimes has me routed differently, so in order to follow my fuel stops i have to set it up for that.
In closing, i really want this GPS to work. I do like it. I love the truck stop and Walmart POI settings and some of the unique features it has. That said, i used a TomTom, company provided directions, and a commercial atlas for two years and achieved the same results and kept the $300 in my pocket.
So i'll see if i want to hang on to this device or exchange it for another, as the time limit has expired on a refund. Cobra says they utilize "Pro miles", and im curious about that and will read some reviews and make a decision. I trusted Rand to provide an exceptional product, but i just don't know if it's all that much better than a TomTom. Unless of course you're an owner op and need the extra buisness tools it provides, then i might justify the extra money. -

I've sent an email to the address in your signature.

Well what i CANNOT complain about is a speedy response on New Years Day. Thank you, and if the email was directed toward me i will have to check it a bit later. Apologies.
After reading the various forums on your competition, i can say that i do not think i'll be doing myself any favors by exchanging for a different device - so with the TND i'll stay. As i mentioned, i do like the unit. And i'm not so bold as to think the operator is not totally at fault...maybe it's up to me to do a bit of learning.
I'll give it more of a go, and knowing you're hear to bounce questions off of is a pretty big perk of ownership.
Again, thanks for the response and i'll see if i can get the weigh station notification to work. That's a feature that i would like to have operational.
The address you requested is: 2374 Mill Rd / Ft. Dodge IA. Its a Georgia Pacific gypsum facility and has been there for a long time. It's competitor is located in the range of addresses (USG), but the GP facility was not in my TND. To get to it was simple: Hwy 20 to ex 124 go R, then turn on Quail i think, then Mill. It's right in front of you.
The TND took me out for dancing and dinner downtown...always an adventure.
