You would have to get ahold of Rand Support to see if they can repair it.

    Thanks,

Nice! I didn't know you could do that. Fortunately, my GPS has been working awesome since I got it back several months ago. I also love that I can track my mileage for my A and B services on it!

The only times it gets wonky is in areas with fresh construction or if there's a stretch where a brand new highway comes in. Naturally, I always preplan with my Rand McNally road atlas... but it sure is nice to let the GPS talk to me once I confirm my route.

Also... I just got an email from the site recently about the anti-glare screen protectors and the visors that mount atop the unit to help block light from the top and sides, kind of like an awning. Thinking about checking those out at some point.

I got the whole assy. Wanted to just get the digitizer and save $20 but not sure of my fine soldering skills to a ribbon. I may try it anyway later to possibly have a spare screen. Was going to sell it once fixed but the wife wants it for the car. Kinda overkill but I think she wants to show off to her friends by dwarfing their standard 4.3" units, lol.

I see nothing showing the screen size. There is no soldering to the ribbon cable.

Understand that the warranty is void once this happens.

    Thanks,
    Mark

It is matched by part number, not oem part but Im willing to try it rather than pay shipping and inflated labor for RM to repair. Its not soldering to the actual ribbon but 4 very small points in the middle of the ribbon, scary for me. The warranty expired about 5 months ago or of course I would send it in for them to take care of it, if this doesnt work then I still have a useless door stop, could get a few buck for parts on ebay at least. I tried to bid on one that had corrupt map data on ebay but gave up when it went up to $150 + shipping?

Their is no soldering on the ribbon cable.. HINT

Corrupt Map Data, hum, could have gotten the files to fix from Rand (the orginal owner).

    Thanks,

I love my 510 also, much better than the 500. Rand has the best products, just wish navteq would get it right. I tried the garmin dezl and got 50. mile with it and had to unplug it. Got on my nerves, so cartoony too. Stopped and returned it and bought the 510.

Mark Kling and tdcanterbury67 Thank this.
