The intelliroute tnd 500 By Rand Mcnally, is very good. U can find anything from truck stops to chicken coups (weight station) while in route in a matter of seconds. Keep track of state millage, toll, loaded, unloaded. Give restricted roads, low bridges, cross winds, and tight curve warnings. That is not 100 percent, but its a useful aide. I like to double check it with a map. I did have to return it to Rand for repair - They sent me a new replacement within a week.

I would say 98 percent of the time its very accurate

Here are some thoughts on my 510 after a month of use.

How did I get by before I got it?

Not perfect and here is why. There are no "sharp turn ahead" on the 401!! And there sure couldn't be one every few minutes between sarnia and London. The speed limit on the 401 is 100- not 99. That just bugs me LOL!!
When in new construction I will often get the "off route"! Tell me once but not three times a minute.

Sure am enjoying it tho and have to be careful that I don't get lazy and trust it too much. It has earned that trust!!

Crashed is a pretty broad term. Can you narrow down?

    Thanks,
    Mark

When I turn it on, it goes right to a screen that reads "System Files Missing" and won't let me do anything else. I'm in the process of trying to repair it via the Dock but it has failed to do so

Since you are getting "system files missing" the Dock may not see it as a critical file was not build on bootup that contains device ID's.

We can do this several ways.

    1. Call Rand Support and ask for an RMA - you would need the receipt.
    2. Load TeamViewer and let me remote into the TND via your computer.
    3. If you are computer savvy, I can "guide" you into looking for certain files.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I called them and a tech helped me last night. We put it on the Dock and it said out of 438 files there were problems with 438 of them, then it would stop at the bigger files and fail, then goes back to the System Files Missing screen. I think I need to send it in and have it repaired. I understand it's a computer and things go wrong. I was also pleased with the customer service. Very quick and helpful. Even though I'm having an issue, makes md glad I bought it because of the fact they didn't make me feel like I was a burden. You don't get that much these days.

You will get this error on several conditions.

    1. System Firmware is corrupted
    2. Missing any of 3 files (needed in boot up).

    They will RMA the unit.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I took it to a pilot and exchanged it for a new one. I took it out of the box and noticed there were fingerprints all over the screen and the cigarette jack was missing. Plugged it in and it worked for 10 minutes, froze up and them wouldn't restart. I'm done, I'll be buying a different brand. One bad unit, ok, it happens. 2 and you lost a customer. There's no reason for that. I spent $360 on this thing.
