Thank you Mark for your curriculum vitae. That is Latin for resumé.
If you look at my profile, you will see I have been driving the big rigs since 2004.
I have 250,000 miles under my belt.
I still have not heard an answer to whether you have a pecuniary interest in these RM GPS Intelliroute devices.
You are right, I do not know what Beta testing is. But I know what it is to test GPS devices, as I have conducted several tests of GPS units, including Garmin and WorldNav. I found both to be worthless because they do not route big trucks the way they claim they do.
I have done a lot of reading about RM's Intelliroute and it all sounds painfully familiar 0 hard-working truckers spending their hard-earned money on GPS units that, once out of the box, fail to perform as advertised.
I am simply trying to ensure that the guys (and gals) who spend a lot of time BTW (behind the wheel) don't throw good money after bad buying GPS units that fall far short of their manufacturer's claims.

OK, so now I know what "beta testing" is:

"Beta testing allows the software to undergo usability testing with users who provide feedback."

That is just what I do with various GPS units - Beta testing. It's just a fancy word for "tryong out GPS units to see if the darn things are any good or whether they are full of glitches that will require software updates - which in the vernacular means buyers will have to repack the units, pay return postage and return them for "updates," e.g., repair.

And even then the likelihood is they will never work properly.

So how much are you being paid by Rand McNally to conduct this so-called "Beta testing?"

Or should I contact their corporate division to get answers to my questions?

Thank you for disclosing that you are working for Rand McNally.

I think the readers of these forums will benefit greatly from your honesty.

Everybody settle down, please. This was a useful discussion thread, but now it's turning into accusations and insults. Please be polite and stay on topic.

I have them and have updated to the latest version of software from Rand to ensure that they are the most current before they ship.

Dieselboss, have you finished your review of Rand's GPS? I am anxious to hear how it compares to others you have tested.

I wanted to get one today, or EARLY tomorrow that's why I was hoping to find it in a store.
My bf's been checking out the TA's and they don't have em and we searched some walmart/best buy/etc type stores last night and couldn't fine it either.

I am giving Mark here, (and therefore Rand by proxy) a chance to discuss my "opinions" and findings to make sure that I am not missing something in my tests. I always do that before I post a public review in order to give the device-maker a chance to respond (in fairness) first. My goal is to have that discussion tonight or tomorrow morning in order to update my site and post here you you. So, very soon man.

No worries. We can do that. Check your PM's. Obviously the free shipping will not apply on an "overnight" shipment, but I can put anything on your doorstep as long as it's sent in before 3:00pm Pacific time to most areas.
