First off, let me say thank you to DieselBoss for his answers, I have been working all morning on a sailboat... really do not like plastic boats, but he is a friend... I prefer 1942's Chris Crafts...own three..
RM does have a semi-solution to the Mac Problem, but that has raised a few more problems,, back to eng now...spent the last 3 hours trying to get what RM wants to work...
The address book is pretty solid. I know DieselBoss has been wearing down his TND 500 the past few weeks. I also have been concentrating more in this area of testing the last week. If you never have Beta Tested a unit before, it is not easy. Each new Beta Version you get you have to start all over again..never assume what worked before works now...lol,,and once RM lets us know that a version is ready for production, then we dive harder into testing each screen.
I am not paid by RM, but in between jobs, so I spend on an average 8-11 hours a day testing the units and such.
If you can send me a PM then go ahead, I would like to forward your companies info to RM. If your company is about 300 miles around Charlotte, NC, I can visit your terminal.
Thanks again for the great questions and DieselBoss jumping in....
Thanks,
Mark

I see you do not have enough posts yet to pm me..
email me at rmleadbetatester at gmail and I will forward your company information up to RM..
Thanks,
Mark -
I know how that feels... I have asked RM for more info on the map updates, nothing back yet.
I know some of what goes on, but in the world of business decsions, I get a trinkle of info beforehand.
My main forte is "testing" the units and finding ways to make the unit more friendly.... like why did it do that and it could have been done this way type questions.
And yes, I read what is mentioned on these forums,.. I have gotten a few ideas for features that drivers would like..
Thanks,
Mark -
Thanx you guys, that was a big help. Mark, I'll send you an email in the near future regarding my specifics.
Not being able to enter coordinates begs the question: can I add my current location to the address book if I am not at an address? Two miles north of hwy-99 on forestry rd 17, for example; some place that could not be precisely described in a way other than coordinates. -
Of course... if you are at the map screen,, tap the cog in the lower left, on the next page just tap the folder - save address, it will allow you to put a name to the "coordinates"... also on this page it gives you lat/long.
Thanks,
Mark -
Vey kewl. Thanx.

ok I'm reporting a prob my bf had with the rand mcnally truck GPS he just bought a week ago.
He's had some minor probs but this is the only one I got all the details on that I could post.
On route 80, in Gary, Illinois, off exit 6 (he thinks) there's a cluster of truck stops, a TA, a Pilot and a flying J's. When he was trying to get to the TA he used exit 6 because leads right to the truck stops but the GPS said it was a "restricted road". He saw trucks going in and out of it so he used it anyway and it was fine.
If he didn't use exit 6, like the GPS suggested, it would have put him unneccessarily out of his way.
He said that he thinks further down the road there may be a resticted area but that the actual exit 6 is not restricted but the GPS says it is.
He was looking for clarification on this.
He is on this site as well, I think his name is just crabby125 but he may have never posted so I'm unsure if you can PM him to get further details.
If you need more details about the situation you can ask me and I'll def get back to you. -
I should also mention though, to be fair, he really does like the GPS so far. He thinks it has a lot of useful options, he hasn't even been able to explore it all yet. He like the way it tracks hours, miles, ect. but he hasn't been faithfully inputting his information yet so he doesn't use it. He just thinks there are a lot of cool options on there.

Prob a typo... am I understanding that the unit routed him to another exit ? If so, does he remember which exit?
I forwarded your information to RM so they can look and see how that exit is in the mapping software.
I verified exit 6 is the correct exit according to TA's web page.
Thanks,
Mark
