mark: is it poss. will freeze like this when not on a road but in a parking lot? shows 72 miles from dest. but is actual about 54. where it shows turns it is blank and blanks at bottom next to "cog". when hit "cog" button has the lat/long but has nothing for cross street and current location they are blank.

if the satellite icon is showing on the main menu screen, it means it is not seeing any satellite's... thus any routing will lock up since GPS is unknown. You were in a "blind" area to to satellite's, meaning that the angle to the satellite signal to your postion was shallow. Hills, trees and other objects could have blocked your signal some.

If you go to the GPS Data you should have at least 2 used.

I have found that changing the angle your unit is on the dash helps. (vertically). I always had to tilt the unit more upright to get a stronger signal, versus down south where the angle could be more relaxed.

Seabrook, NJ, is not listed in the MCRA, thus not in the unit... I looked it up on the internet and seeing that this is small town could explain the reason for non-listing. Usually a city has to be a certain size to be listed in the MCRA, although Page 67 P6 would show its location..

    Thanks,
    Mark

It is showing a rough distance and nothing will show till the GPS starts to see movement... if you took the GPS and walked to the TA and back it would prob start to sync up....

on the Cog page it will start to show once movement is started...

as the same on the map page next to the cog..

what concerns me is you have nothing showing in the Turn-by-turn list...

Did you reset the unit with the button on the back (bottom left)?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    lets do the following..

    1. unit on.
    2. press in reset button on back of unit
    3. power unit back on.
    4. enter your destination fresh then hit begin route.
    5. see if your turn by turn now shows up..

suspect your current in place route may have been corrupted somehow.

    thanks,
    mark

mark, okay reset it thought that would clear all user data out too? anyways the "turn by turn" list is there although seems like weird turns (sorry the turn by turn was always up there but that was it). also on similar note i find when i start rolling for the day if already on route it takes few minutes for data to appear and time to destination to correct itself?

mark: now the "seabrook" issue is the first thing you said that bothers me. are you saying that every town thats not listed in back of mcra even if shows on map wont be in unit?? thats a whole lot of towns and i go to lots of them dont know if i like that. that is first thing i heard that gives a big edge to Garmin (all those little towns were in there).

do you have a camera or phone on your cell that you could take a pic of the turn by turn list?

The reset on the back only resets to default...will not affect user folders.

GPS may take a minute to correct itself, you may try moving the GPS to another location on your windshield.

satellite's are positioned around the equator,,so the farther north you go the less angle you are to the satellite. I found even going up and down some of the small hills I would loose signal even on Sirius... had to readjust the units to a more up and down angle..

Try seeing what the unit and the turn by turn list does tomorrow...if still acting strange, I would like to some files.. I can call you to show you how to move them over to your unit... then run the tnd dock again. If you try it now it will say you are on the current version. I want to take you back a version so it will update your unit again..

If your unit still seems to be having problems then I will talk to Rand about getting you a replacement when you are on hometime...

BTW..that Ta resturant still owes me a dinner...lol... ate their once and good thing I had imodium,,

    Thanks,
    Mark

Most atlas's will not list small towns unless they are a certain size.. I have asked RM to clarify their listings. They use mapping data that may differ than from the MCRA, but I know NJ has towns that are about 4 blocks wide it seems... other states have this also...

Yes, I would agree that towns should be listed due to pu/drops being anywhere and everywhere..

If this is needs to be changed then RM needs to know...

    E-mailed RM already..

    Thanks,
    mark
