An internal hard drive would be destroyed by vibration unless they used solid state. That would increase the price of the unit though.

    POI's search by:

My truck (where truck is physically located)

city (enter a city where you would like to search for POI's)

My Route (if in a route, gives you POI's on that route)

End of day (calculates where you should be at end of the driving day gives you POI's for that area)

Destination (if in route, it gives your POI's at your destination)

    ******************************************
Construction - if you expand the Turn -by - turn list you will see construction shown on the segiments.

    ******************************************
Keyboard and other features - Have you done the latest update? You should be on ver 1443.

    ******************************************
unit locking up - are you in shortest route and with items marked avoid in routing settings? if so, change to fastest with all items set to allow - bug found in shortest - will cause lock-ups.

    ******************************************
Sleep mode - not a true working function. best to turn unit off. If in route it will remember your route if you are on ver 1443.

    ******************************************
updates to the Dock - these are updates for the TND Dock for new versions, POI updates and construction updates that need to downloaded to your TND.

    ******************************************
Height restriction - you can give approx information on what is not right, but a good idea on a "marker" for the driver.

    ******************************************
make sure your TND Dock is 1.0.46 or higher, Your TND is on ver 1443 and you have your routing settings on fastest with all items set to allow.

If you are still having problems I can be contacted here or via E-mail rmleadbetatester at gmail.

I monitor this thread from 7am to about 11pm est daily and can work with you from 8am to 7pm daily on the phone - 7 days a week.

RM has seen a few issues that were not known before and they are working hard to correct the issues.

RM cannot expand too much on these issues, but if RM sees a issue that affects your business of driving a truck, then I will post it here. RM is committed to you, the professional driver.

Also, how drivers connect to the internet are showing a few issues also. RM will work with these drivers and resolve any connection issues.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Is there a function to easily (one key access) save a current location as a waypoint? What, if any, features are available for creating or saving waypoints?

quote "The only thing I noticed is that it threw my milage off on all of my odometers."

Steve, can I get more info on this? I have not seen the odometers get thrown off when you set origin or route in a set origin mode.

    Thanks,
    Mark

waypoints can be saved in your address book at this time, but not as a via point in a route, unless you put it in your Multi-stop trip.

    Thanks,

    Hello

Thanks kajidono and Mark for the quick replies.

That is a very logical explanation about the hard drive. I wish the best to RM for fixing the freezing issues. I honestly believe that the flash memory is part of that problem. What are the other non SD Card GPS car/truck units using?

I have not done the update this week.

I am on fastest route. I will check if everything is allowed. I know at least everything except ferry's is. Shouldn't need it is why I didn't check it.

I guess what I'm trying to do on POI's is I may know the name of a place I want but do not know where one is located. IE restaurant. I am willing to go out of my way a little if it is not along my route. If I don't know where it is I can't be restricted to truck, route or city. I can put a fake route in so I can do destination but shouldn't that be available always.

Unit freezes and or takes veeeeeeeeeeery long time to bring up POI's. Again I will update TND Dock and unit.

A shame sleep mode does not work, the few times it did was nice. Is this feature going to be made available?

I forgot to mention. I have had problems with multi route settings. I am going to update and try something else. Yesterday when it asked if I wanted to return where I was I said yes. I thought it meant at the end of the day. Every time I went to next destination it wanted to take me back to the warehouse. Two things I want to try. Not say yes to return and update unit. I also had problems other day's without saying want to return but thought it was because was restarting unit in-between each stop, that's where sleep mode was helping. I have six or more stops a day. After I arrive at destination I hit go to next location and had problems when restarted unit. I will give more info on this as I experiment.

Last thursday I was up in Connecticut and it was very rainy/overcast. Don't remember the details but seemed to be havening issues. I know weather will be an issue, just wanted to let RM know. Had another Truck GPS unit that would actually receive satellites in my apartment. Don't know what kind of internals they had but it must have been powerful. Only will say it was one of the seven inch screen versions.

Mark, I guess you or another beta tester will pass on the info about "a marker"?

Again thanks for your help guys and have a safe weekend. dan

Are map updates something coming in the future and will there be a price?
I know I saw this question but I don't remember seeing the answer.

    Thanks again Mark. dan

The flash memory is not causing your freezing. Reset to fastest and allow everything. Then reboot the unit.

How do you connect to the internet ?

Your POI search, you may have to just pick a city along your route and then search by hitting all and then spell... then type the name in you are looking for. I think I know what you are asking for this search, but searching just by name without some parameters would result in a large return of all cities/states.

I have been in all types of weather and had no affects of losing the satellite signal. The next time this happens go to preferences/device settings and look at gps data. at the bottom is satellites used/seen. I would like to know the numbers. Also you might try another location in your truck.

Multi-stops - In ver 1443, if you turn the unit off/on the unit will sense you are in a route, but not in the multi-stop. The engineers are resolving this. Multi-stops are not saved in the history folder, hence not retaining the route when turned off/on. If you are in a regular route, then you should have no problems returning to your orginal route when the unit is turned off/on. Currently, if you are in a multi-stop, just leave the unit on.

I run my test units inside an house and they all receive up to 21 satellites. It depends on the type of building and roof. Make sure you unit is as close to vertical as possible.

    Thanks,
    Mark

page 64, post 638 for the mapping.

remember, construction is reported by city to the state and passed to the mapping companies. If you see long term construction and it does not show on the turn-by-turn, then please report to RM. RM will verify and if it needs to be included in the construction updates, then they will get all the information and enter the data for the next update.

    Thanks,
    Mark
