Rand McNally intelliRoute TND 500

Hey Mark, my first trip out my new TND was for the most part good, but did have a couple of issues, I did send them onto RM.

1) Speed Limit feature does not work in "Truck" mode, works fine in "Car" mode.
2) While southbound just few miles south of Portland,OR on I-5 the unit thought I was off route and kept trying to re-route me back to I-5, earlier today I traveled the same stretch of road going Northbound with no problems.
3) Would be nice if the map would automatically zoom in as you get closer to the destination.
4) Also, would be nice if you could save an address in a "group" at the same time you are inputting the info rather than having to go back and do it later, seems redundant.

Other than that, I enjoyed using it.

 

1. truck mode - check your device settings... "truck mode speed limit" do you have it set in truck only or truck and car?

If in truck only - only when you are on roads with a split speed will a speed limit show.. in car mode it will show speed limit

if in truck and car - should show the truck speed if spilt speed, else shows the car speed.

2. If you give RM the MM this would help. Was a US route next to I-5 at this point?

4. was noted already today...via another E-mail by a tester. But, this helps re-enforce the need.

If I buy a NEW Rand TND 500 from a dealer on Ebay will it still be covered by Rands
warranty or what. The units are all BRAND NEW, and I'm just curious as if there
would be any draw backs to buying one from that site??

 

buyer beware. Note- the unit retails for $499.xx. I cannot see a person taking a couple of hundred dollars loss.

I have nothing against E-bay, I have bought major items. But, still I would wonder why they would take a loss? And if your bid is over the listed price, why would you pay more?

Could you possibly post the release notes for the update?
I read them, but was hoping to view them later, can't find them. Would like to see about the speed limit settings again.
Also, if the release notes don't tell how to access them could you please let us know how?

· QWERTY Keyboard preference added

· Route algorithm adjusted per latest feedback to improve truck routing.
Corrects some cases of routing on smaller roads,
incorrect use of u-turns, and too high a preference for
STAA roads when it might run you way out of the way.

has the best truck attribute data available,
and truck routing is our specialty,

· Setting added for Car vs Truck speed limit per user request
o “Truck only” will show truck speed limits when available
o “Truck and Car” will work as before
o “None” shows no speed limits
o Note: This setting affects truck mode only.
Car mode will show Car speed limits.
o Logic also added to “fill” missing truck segment speed limitswith previous segment speed limit
but only if the road class is continuous


· You can now delete individual entries from History.

· State Mileage log now has Delete “X” for each day

· 12/24 hour clock choice preference has been added

· Low battery now has an additional earlier warning.
A flashing yellow battery icon will now appear.

 

This unit has saved me some time on several occasions. Got me a shortcut to a customer in downtown Boston all good roads! ...and just yesterday got me around an accident on I-95 in CT....VERY HAPPY WITH RM.

 

Just got my TD500 and have used it the last couple days. So far not too many issues. It has already saved me alot of time. I hooked it up to the internet to update it. It wont update. Yesterday I got a message that said my unit wasn't recognized or something like that. Now it just says TNDDOCK has encountered an error retrieving your updates. Your TND cannot be updated at this time please try again in the future. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
