exit 44 in TN or VA? you say he was on I 81 in VA, but looking for TN?
just want to make sure we are on the same state...
I found a Jearoldstown off I 81 x44...in TN
http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=J...e=36.363098&longitude=-82.702499&geocode=CITY
Please be aware, that not all small towns will be listed. This has to do with population size.
I will query RM on this and what criteria a town must have to show up on mapping data.
Thanks,
mark

Hello Mark
At this point it is a done deal, I already returned it.
I don't think it was any one specific thing, I think it was a lot of little things.
One big thing though is the remaking of the unit. This should be a good thing. I was able to bail and get my money back. Like I mentioned I'm hoping RM or somebody else can continue to improve the Truck specific GPS's. Like I've mentioned earlier I have tried several GPS models. I still think RM is one of the better ones. Garmin might be close but I didn't give it much of a chance, small screen. I am definitely going to return to the truck specific GPS unit in the future.
Specifics I liked in the RM TND500 or other models;
- Stability, accuracy
- Speech clarity
- Turn-by-Turn spoken street name directions a must have
- Lane Assist
- Five inch screen or larger
- Multi-truck profiles
- Names of side streets on the map, I've seen other units awesome in this area
- RM's truck tools are good, logs, on duty, off duty, just car mode etc.
- Speed traps, busy intersections, red lite camera warnings
- Reliable "accurate as can be" traffic alerts, very hard to find but it is available
- Really just too many things to mention. Some things needed for actual functionality, other things just for bells and whistles
- In my opinion everything RM is offering on their unit I want. I would just like to see some of these other features also.
- At this point everybody has a couple of nice features but not all in one.
I guess in a perfect world most of the all the best features in one unit.
Feature not seen is to be able to mark a specific spot, beginning and ending if needed and detail the issue ie. speed limit, height limit, weight limit, etc. to be sent to the GPS manufacture.
Sorry pen/pencil and paper is not feasible.
Thanks danMark Kling Thanks this. -
Jearoldstown, TN:
Garmin 465T - No
Rand TND - No
PC Miler - Yes
Cobra - Yes
So as is the case before, this town is missing from the NavTeq maps and is not specific to the TND, but to all devices using NavTeq data.Mark Kling Thanks this. -
If you are receiving a T5C, on back of the TND in the serial number, please contact me asap.
rmleadbetatester.com
and if you have contacted RM tech support and your TND is working now, please contact me also. You need to have 3 more files updated.
Note: if you notice in the logs folder under truck tools and see mileage from 6 states, just delete them. They were accidentally inserted during the Software burn.
Thanks,

Mark
It looks like RM did send the RMA info to the house.
So for now we will go with that. -
Cool Beans,,,, let me know how it goes on the RMA
Thanks,

I had some friends who had a unit (I think it was a WorldNav) and they told me it was designed to get traffic and weather updates via XM Satellite feeds. I guess I thought more of the GPS makers had that ability... Not that it's any big deal; I figure no matter what the weather looks like ahead, I'm going to have to drive through it!
The most important point for me would be the HM accuracy. I know that's a tough subject to tackle, that's why I've been slow in picking up any sort of unit. I just keep doing more research...
At any rate, thanks very much for your comments. I appreciate them!! -
Mark,
If I heard him correctly when I was talking to him he was in VA and on his way to TN.
When the qualcomm said take exit 44 I'm pretty sure they meant exit 44 in TN.
So it looks like you found the right town.
It was just something he mentioned in passing, since the qualcomm was able to direct him to it it wasn't a big issue.
And he did get there and everything worked out fine.
Thanks again Mark, as always, for the speedy response.
And Don Jr/Sr, thanks for your input - I'll always be grateful you got the GPS to him so quickly. It's been extremely useful for the bf and his teammate which gives me peace of mind. -

make sure you do an update via the Dock asap. This is the TND that does not have the external SD card.
Thanks,
Mark
