That would work. RM has been informed and they are working on a solution to the expired license issue. So far the issue is narrowed down to the T5B.
I can always send the license file you need also..
Thanks,
Mark

That has been asked and is on the feature list.
The bottom bar has three toggles to it. Lots of buttons behind buttons.
also if you are in a route,, click on the cog and you can see the house numbers along with the street counting up/down as you drive by.
What road are you trying to enter? state/city/road
Thanks,
Mark -
I agree that the bottom area seems underused. I am not sure what happens each time I press it...it seems to cycle through 2 or 3 modes but what those are !?
Today was my 1st trip with the TND and I used it in TRUCK mode. I have noticed a few minor <?> things and here are my comments:
1. The Speed alarm doesnt work. I set it at 5mph over and for Audible/visual alert. I even tried disabling the 'auto-dismiss' alarm. If I drive 5mph over, I see the speed limit sign turn RED but the device doesnt say anything or print anything on the screen. Even going 15mph over the limit.- nothing happens but the speed limit sign changing to red.
(yes...I am in TRUCK MODE)
2. If I stray off the route, the TND takes a bit of time to notice and recalculate. I am not sure why there is a delay, but my last Garmin would catch that - and then announce "recalculating" - which I actually liked. This unit says nothing audible...unless I missed a setting?
3. I noticed when traveling into IL today, It told me to take "IDLE 60" - which was actually "I L 60" - but sounded like IDLE 60. Why doesnt it just say the STATE..."ILLINOIS 60" - I mean the states sure won't be changing names anytime soon...like roads sure can. Same with WI 100. But it says.."W I ONE ZERO ZERO" instead of something more concise like "Wisconsin one hundred" - maybe thats nit picky but for almost $5 bills I would have expected a bit more...maybe??
4. On the route back from IL to WI, as I got 1/2 way through the trip the GPS started 'lagging' from actual. Speed was not indicated accurately and location was 'delayed'. It would tell me to take an exit in 1/4 mile and I was already at the exit. If I didnt know the area, I might have been confused here. Once I reached my final destination, it told me I had 2 more turns to go...as I shut down...in about 30 seconds from standing still, it finally updated and told me I had reached my destination.
~~~
So I am not complaining here nor am I trying to sound snotty, but these are my feelings on this unit, first time out. .....
I am excited about seeing improvements... -
1. The sign will turn red - no audio or any other type of alarm. The audio and/or are for the warnings - borders, tolls, weigh stations.
2. How far did you stray off the route? The route is tied by GPS to the road and will allow you a certain distance to stray before it will notice you are off. If you can, the next time it does that, go to preferences and scroll down to GPS data. Let me know how many sat. are used/seen.
3. I forwared that to RM... I have a city close by that is a little off also when it pronounces the city...
4. same as 2. need to know how many sat. used/seen.
As far as the bottom bar:
Road NameTap to view the current road name, upcoming cross road name, city name,and state.
Thanks,
Mark -
Thanks Mark. I appreciate the quick followup and clarification.
Yea, to "SAY" the State Name instead of the 2 letters along with the route number instead of saying each number individually, I think would be ideal.
Wisconsin One Hundred sounds so much better than:
W I ONE ZERO ZERO
..thanks again for the tips. I will note the info requested if/when this happens again. I am familiar with the sat used/seen screen. -
On my Tom Tom I'm able to see miles remaining, ETA, current time,
and the speed, to do that on the TND you have to press the button that
shows all the upcoming turns. I know you can press where the speed or
ETA shows but you can only choose to see one on the screen at a time
and it would be AWESOME to see them all at the same time.
Another this my tom tom does is when it calculates a route a map of the country shows up and you can see which way it is routing you. The TND there is now way to see how it routes you unless you go and look at the
turn by turn directions.
Doug -
passed your suggestions to RM..
Thanks,
Mark -
The audio portion of the TND has a lot to be desired.
I have noticed that it tries to combine letters into words.
Wait till you get into some place like Los Angeles where an exit can be for three or four roads.
The unit will start announcing the exit and voice everything on the sign, it takes so long that it will immediately start over, then do it again and again till you pass the point it sees you are on route.
I have had it announce an exit continuously 7 or 8 times. That gets annoying real fast.
Has RM fixed the avoid feature? Or is it still locking up the unit?
Mark
I have sent the unit in on the RMA, any guess as to what revision I might get back? -
Avoid is still being worked on.
I have no idea what you will get back. It could be an T5B or T5C.
I passed your other info up to RM.
Thanks,
Mark
