It showed 1201 Union Ave. Man was I ticked! I'm over it now though. Thanks again for all you do Mark!
-
I called the phone number off the POI, the lady that answered the store had to look up where she worked. So, she did verify what I found on the web.
She knew the business address number... but, she had some difficuty knowing the street and zip
It should be updated within the POI listing within the week hopefully.
Thanks,
Mark -
Is their anyway you can get to a computer? I can always send you an install for the Dock.
The Dock is correcting the license file when you update.
Thanks,
Markdeacon70 Thanks this. -
I'm thinking about coming off the hip pocket and buying a gps. leaning torwards the Rand McNally but it seems like you have to do a lot of updates, is this a common problem with all GPS? Should you have to do any updates as soon as you get it. I know very little about a GPS, how complicated are they to use?
-
if you google DieselBoss, you will see a review on GPS's.
As with any piece of software/hardware, when you get it out of the box, you would want to always update it. This is common because the GPS may have been sitting for a few weeks up to a month or two in a warehouse. The update will get you up to the most current version.
The reason you would want to update or connect at least weekly is that your unit will be getting the most current POI's or corrections to POI's and the most current construction updates. The TND does these for free and thus it will keep you current while you are on the road and do not have to wait for CD updates.
The TND also passes the next version of the software out over the internet, so when a new version is put on the production server you can procure it when you shut down.
The TND was made for the professional driver, but with ease to use. It has been Beta Tested by current professional drivers with CDL's. So RM has made the buttons bigger for those "smooth" riding trucks.
Enhancements and corrections to the code is always ongoing. The next version due out has quite a few enhancements. Code has been refined in routing.
No one GPS is 100% correct, as was pointed out in an eariler post of a wrong address for a Wal-mart. But, the driver was kind enough to show this issue and I have verified that the POI DB is incorrect. Now RM will re-verify and correct the POI DB. So hopefully within the week on your next download of updates, the POI DB will download with the correction.
Mapping and truck attributes in the mapping are noted and verifed. But because mapping is a large DB, approx 2.5 gb it cannot be send over the internet and with the frequency of other updates. RM will have to send the mapping update to your house. This is "normally" done about once a quarter.
Any questions you have feel free to ask. You will get the pros/cons of the TND. RM welcomes all, because without the cons, RM cannot strive towards correcting the issues and concerns.
Thanks,
Mark -
Thanks for the info. Just went into the pilot I'm at(Ogden,Ut.) to buy one but they didn't have any in stock.
-
Did they mention how long the sale was on the TND? You might be able to stop by another Pilot tomorrow.
Thanks,
Mark -
When will R/M release a TND 700 ?

From RM:
We have no public announcement on the existence of a 7", there is rumored to be a 7" in the works, but that Rand McNally will not confirm or deny it.
