I hear it will be soon. That's why the price roll-back for the TND 500.

I bet you that the TND 700 will come in at the $499 price, with the TND 500 at the $399 price.

So then you have 2 five inch units at the $399 price .. TND 500 and the PC Miler 540 .... and 3 seven inch units at the $499 price .. the TND 700, the PC Miler 740 and the Cobra GPSM7700.

    Choices, choices, choices.

And I hear that the the PC Miler 540 and 740 have some new enhancements coming out shortly, too.

I plan on checking some other pilots tomorrow. They did say they would have some more in here thursday so if I come back this way and don't have one by then I'll stop in and get one.

I was told at Pilot that the sale is for 30 days. The register didn't even ring it up right, but the Manager corrected the price.

Watch out for 7" GPSs though..sometimes it can be a bit large for the front window. I think the 5" is a good size, if we get options to remove/reduce some of the extra stuff within the TND window....it would be perfect. Too each his own though!

This unit is just like my bb storm1 an unfinished product. All this updating all this tinkering when do find time to use it? Coming close to buying but not sure. The garmin 465T is a more refined choise. Not all those bells whistles to go wrong with. Guess ill wait till Louisville and see what pops. But after all that tinkering I did with my storm I don't want to deal with that mess any more.

    A few thoughts:

I think the 465T is a good product and so is the PC Miler. But the thing I like about the TND is it's designed from the ground up..not copied off of a similar 'car' model and turned into a 'trunk' unit.

Yea, there are some updates that you need to do and you do need net access for those, but as the product matures I am sure these will lessen.

Right now, many of the updates correct or tweak features that truckers have requested.
The 'low' battery icon change comes to mind.

Rand McNally is listening to users and really valuing their feedback.
Not so with some of the competitors. This product has nothing to do but get better and better.
After all, who makes the Trucker's Road Atlas that we all use!?

Garmin didn't need to build it from ground up since they build gps units forever. Hd was allready there just had to do truckinfo which isn't just masking over the car software. There have been times that I have traveled and my garmin stopped routing me because I was on a illegal route. Had to switch to car mode to finish my route.

Or what they claim is an illegal route. They've got incorrect tags scattered all over the place, some of them on marked truck routes. Irritating as hell.

I just noticed something on the TND dock. If you have it installed on two machines and an update comes out for the unit (not for the dock), it will make you update the unit twice instead of checking to see if the unit has already been updated.

Or, if you have a higher version of firmware on the GPS itself and connect it up to a TND Dock,
    it will downgrade the software....

It does not seem to check the GPS device before telling you to update it..I noticed this too and forgot to mention it to Mark...
but after this, I am sure he will see it :biggrin_25525:
