Please dont talk a bunch a trash about gps in here lol. I plan on using a map to so save it... Im just curious about these two Gps, and I am wanting to know about everyones preferences on the best ones. Im going to buy one soon and im not sure what kind is the best. Im leaning towards the rand mcnally one. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

my knowledge is limited to garmin nuvi. and while of course you will still need an atlas, i wouldnt leave without it. there are drawbacks...
upon arrival to shipper/receiver/truckstop, it tends to give funky directions back to the interstate. while it will get you there, it will as often as not be a scenic route. better option is to pay attention to how you got in and go back out the same way, ignoring the gps.
it occasionally will not recognize a secondary hwy youre on...mississippi comes to mind. its never happened at a point where i actually NEED directions, but maybe 10 times total its told me im off the road...will show me as driving thru the air. never been a problem, but its a bit annoying to hear her keep telling me to get back on the road.
i have no idea whether another gps would be better or worse, but for what its worth i never will, for if im in the market for a new one im happy enough with garmin to confine my purchases to them alone.trashtruckin22 Thanks this. -
I'm very happy with my Rand McNally 710. I'm also impressed with the customer service I have received with them.

I have the garmin nuvi 465lmt and it works great..so far it does what it says it will do..the traffic on it is great..gives me a update as far as delays are concerned and the option to route around.. as far as rand McNally...I don't know, never used it.

Ya, I have the 710 and lemme tell you, the first time you have a multi-stop load you will wish that thing was a woman so you could take it out for dinner and romantic night on the town, that's how much you'll love it. Being able to program multiple stops on a trip and just hit "Next Stop" on the screen after each is a godsend. I did a bunch of MI windows loads with my last company. Many were 12+ stops (at $20 a stop) with driver tailgating (another $20 or so a stop, woots!) and that GPS earned itself just on those. Figured I saved about 5-10 minutes calling the next customer and writing down directions for each stop per stop, and that time adds up. Course, I still had to call some because they were out of the way, or were deliveries to actual job sites, but most were to Lowes, Home Depots, or Menards, so you could trust the GPS pretty well.
One thing though, if you do get one be sure to shop around. I got mine for $400 ish, then found one at another truck stop, same model and everything, for $100 cheaper. I was half tempted to return it and get the cheaper one.trashtruckin22 Thanks this. -
i have a Garmin Nuvi, not at all satified with it.....
