Actually, @WesternPlains, when I wrote Trucker Path on my msg to you, I meant to say CoPilot...
My former company had CoPilot and Navigator in their Peoplenet and they were very helpful showing locations with weight restrictions and other truck restrictions that sometimes my Garmin would not show...
The Garmin I had was Nuvi 465. Bought it in 2011 and it worked almost flawlessness for 8 yrs.... It was simple, very easy to use, very accurate... I never downloaded any update and never had a problem... once in a while, driving in areas with poor satellite signal, GPS would get lost for a little while but it would find its way when it got signal again, no big deal... Unfortunatelly, the screen got very worn out and it wouldn't work properly any more and I got rid of it... now I regret... should have tried to get it fixed...
This product has been discontinued by Garmin 2 yrs ago and I can't find any place that will have it new for sale.
Bought a Garmin dezl500 OTR, "played" with it for one week and didn't like it at all... so I returned it today and got my money back...
It has too much info that I don't need and have to take too many steps to find what I want.... it becomes very confusing... for me at least... Also, the maps don't show the truck stops, rest areas and weight stations by name when I zoom in... Only if I do a search, with name of city and then go back to map view... more steps than before... Also don't like the navigation view... it doesn't zoom in when I have to make a turn into a street or when taking an exit or arriving at a destination... I don't want to hear directions, I want to see everything on the map and this Garmin dezl500 is not as simple and easy as the old one... Besides, every time I had my finger close to the screen or just moving the map around, the darn thing would put a poi on the map and disrupt my search... what a pain in the but.... I don't need all that... Also don't want to use my cell with GPS...
I can see satellite with Google and just need an easy and simple GPS like the Nuvi 465 to help me navigate the route and avoid truck restrictions.
Tried to download Hammer and CoPilot on my tablet but it is not compatible with those... Would have to buy a new tablet... :angry2:
Actually, I have read lots of complains about Hammer lately... and CoPilot... and Trucker Path...
Will try to find an unused Garmin Nuvi 465 somewhere before I give up on it...

I tried to download Hammer on my tablet but unfortunately it's not compatible... Wonder why... my tablet is OS Android 5.1. lollipop with 1GB RAM.
Don't want to use my cell as gps... Might have to buy a new tablet... :angry2: Not sure I will do that... I read several complains about Hammer in the forum here... and no response...
Bought a Garmin dezl500 OTR and "played" with it for one week... and got disappointed and returned it to the store...
I will try to find a new Garmin Nuvi 465... or something similar...

I have mine installed on a iPad without issue, I am not sure of the min required for an Android tablet though

I've been using a car Garmin GPS and paying close attention to restrictions and such. Recently ran across a deal I couldn't refuse for a Garmin Dezl570. Been using it a few weeks now. So far I'm finding it sometimes sends me off an exit to a local highway with lights and through towns, then back on the interstate that it exited me from. Weird! While up in New England, where I've been many times with the car GPS it wanted to route me a totally different way than I've gone previously with the car one. I set them both up like dueling GPS's and followed the best one. I guess there's no perfect GPS, just have to plan ahead.

    Rocks Thanks this.
