Trying to get my newbieness check list done.
Searching amazon for the 2011 motor carriers atlas. They have a paperback one for $12 or the "deluxe" spiral one for $50.
Is it worth the extra money for the "deluxe" ?:biggrin_2558:

It is.... if it is laminated and large print, makes life so much easier when using in a dim lit cab. Loves usually puts the 2010's on sale this time of year for $20.

Usually Walmart does not carry the trucker version, it has more detailed information.....restricted roads, state weights, trailer length, etc.

Wait to you get on the road. You can use your trainers at first. Like Jonny said, you can find them on sale for $10 and up at Love's TS. I usually wait till the end of the year and that's when they are $10. There are very few highways if any being built. They take years to complete anyways. I usually buy a new map every 3-4 years.

I don't like the large print because the states are cut in half or quarters. I like looking at the whole state on a regular to get a better picture.

Definately get a laminate one. A paper one doesn't last. I have an unused large print 2008 (maybe it's newer) around here somewhere. I'll send it to you if you want. Just PM me.

I'm not sure which trucking organization I joined but every year I get a new Rand McNally road atlas mailed to me. :)

I much prefer the deluxe spiral-bound one though. Spill proof pages and instead of having to hold it open to look at the entire state of PA you can flip it to either side and only look at the half of the state you need to be concerned with. It's awesome. (note: pages aren't tear proof)
